I like the Stand by Me version of competitive eating where it's just a once a year pie eating or sausage competition at the county fair just to push yourself to see how much you can actually eat in one sitting, but the 2019 reality of competitive eating is honestly just disgusting.

When I worked in the kitchen, I would eat and smoke at a reckless pace. three or four drags per cig, and maybe 1 min for something like a cheeseburger or sandwich.

I've learned to slow the fuck down since. I am far too high strung for regular kitchen work. Now I do the occasional bit of catering, and might have half of a cigarette if the menu is challenging or the event coordinator is giving subtle hints that she needs to be punted.

I have a phobia of choking to death. Speed eating is also stupid unless you're doing it in a competitive context. Food is meant to be enjoyed, and you can't enjoy a burrito if you're literally cramming it down your throat as quickly as you can. Extremely degenerate.
