Whats something you're glad that only comes around during fall so that way it doesn't get over done?

Any "pumpkin flavored" anything is trash, starting with beer

I get several carving pumpkins after Halloween and put pumpkin flesh and seeds in everything. Most "pumpkin flavor" is mostly or exclusively the associated spices, which are also good.

Also, absolutely do not attempt to make a pie from carving pumpkin. Sugar pumpkin is what you want for that.

I like to make a big batch of hot cider, put some rye whiskey in there. Once a year, usually October to November.

The first 2 mugs are delicious, but you get tired of it by the end of the gallon. Kinda like winter.

I made a batch of chicken pot pies for my boyfriend and one to share with his coworkers. It felt really cozy, and the smell reminds me of fall.

This, except for pumpkin pie. That's the only time pumpkin is acceptable.

I make a drink which is 1 part whiskey, 1 part coffee, 2 parts nog. This is basically holiday four loko and I would be dead if I drank it all year.

One time a girl made pumpkin seeds one year and I basically fell in love with her. We all carved pumpkins and she took it upon herself to make sure we used all the seeds. Anytime someone mentioned pumpkin seeds she went on the double to get it done. And to make pumpkin seeds you bake them in the oven and add salt.

You get drunk at the usual pace but don't notice it because the coffee is keeping you alert enough to make you think you're sober. By the time you realize that you're fucked up you're both fully energized off having 5 cups of coffee at 10 pm and have impaired judgment from an equivalent volume of whiskey. I like to use espresso or cold brew but regular drip works.

As far as flavor goes, coffee and whiskey both go great in nog to begin with and the coffee adds a bit of a 'dark' flavor demeanor to the whole thing, like smoky almost. I usually use Jameson which works well (cheap enough for mixing, decent, and vanilla-y flavor aspect) but I'm open to other whiskey suggestions if anyone has any thoughts.

I just had my first persimmon recently, I didn't know a fruit could be so sweet. I want to make sauce from them with cinnamon and nutmeg.

If you haven't tried it I suggest you do, all the fun of being hammered with none of the lethargy. Decaf is a reasonable option though, same alcohol content with no serious loss of flavor.

White Russians, which The Dude drinks, are half and half, Kahlua and vodka. The half and half really smooths out the vodka and the Kahlua adds a nice touch.

I dunno, I just don't get it. I've tried to drink different things but the only thing I really like is a sunset or a sex on the beach. I rarely drink. I'd rather a coke.

Pour 2 parts apple cider and 1 part apple juice in a large pot, throw in some cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil then kill the heat and let cool. Add bourbon if you’d like it alcoholic. Enjoy.

iirc 1 part tea (we use black tea like for sweet tea), 1 part apple juice, 1 part orange juice, and 1 part pineapple juice, then toss in red hots to taste, serve hot.

I only make it in the fall because I roast my own tan cheese pumpkin for it, and I don’t think it’s as good from frozen or canned puree.

Pumpkin soup w/ pecorino cheese, full fat cream, sauteed onions, and white wine; season with smoked and reg paprika, black pepper, a couple cloves of garlic, parsley, lemon juice, and chili powder. Run it through the food processor for a smooth consistency.

It’s good topped with goat cheese, green onion, cubed sourdough, bacon bits, cheddar curds, whatever you want!
