Recommend me some whiskey

Current favorites, in order:

Yamazaki 12
Dalwhinnie 15
Hibiki Japanese Harmony
Yamazaki NAS
Jameson
Glenmorangie original
Monkey Shoulder

Usually drink Jameson since its cheap, love the stuff, sometimes drop a bit in my Guinness at the pub its a nice drink.

Thinking about copping redbreast 12 or jameson caskmates stout (or both)

Dude just imagine peat is succubus leather panties asscrack sweat condensate. Then you'll realise peat, bacon (actually saltyish deli meats in general) and hard cheese (more floral than soft cheese) are awesome in their own way. Kinda tastes like anus juices too so that's a bonus if you're into that. I tried to recreate the anus juice flavour and it's something like this: smoked ham, mushrooms, yellow bell pepper, red wine, onions, some light soy sauce (the good stuff tastes just like armpit sweat with sugar notes) and hard cheese. I just considered using peaty whisky and it seems like it would fit for an anus sauce.
Oh yeah and for those unfamiliar anus juice doesn't taste nothing like poop. And no homo. Well maybe a little but only for 2D traps.

No of course not! He gave me a wee shot in a clean glass. I thought he was just showing me the bottle at first, came in a fancy white box that he had hidden in the back room, then he poured me one. Afterwards he told me it’s normally 5500 yen a glass, which is a lot.

I was pretty drunk by this point but I remember it tasted extremely good. Very smooth, mild hint of smoke and peat but had developed into a quite fruity and spicy taste you would expect more from a Speyside.

Was one of the comfiest pubs I have ever been to, and most certainly the smallest.

Try some Eagle Rare then, tastes like berries, much more fruity than what you'd expect from a bourbon so you'll probably like it.
Or try one of the wheaters, they tend to be smoother.
Get either Connemara or Highland Park 12 as they are only lightly smoked. Or keep at that Laphoraig, by the third, fourth glass I became accustomed to it and enjoyed it; though if you don't find yourself intrigued by it and coming back to it naturally then you might just want to skip that, some flavours you can never make peace with no matter how much you want to.

You can also try the double barreled stuff like Woodford double oaked or go irish with Writer's Tears I think is regarded as a solid choice? haven't tried that one yet think imma order a bottle right now.

Simplest answer, especially if outside of Canada, is that Canadian whisky fucking sucks and move onto highland scotch or irish for something nice and lighter.

If you actually want Canadian whisky, you have to be there because the only stuff getting exported is assortments of rat piss bottled under names like Crown Royal, Canadian Club, Alberta Premium or Wisers. Don't bother even wasting a dime on these companies, even if they do actually have decent to good albeit more expensive options in their portfolio. I was in Western Canada for a few months and I got to try a bunch of different whiskies but I only took note of a few good ones. Recommendations for Lot 40, Forty Creek or Gibsons aren't necessarily unfounded but I felt they were underwhelming, could have been my expectations being set a little too high but oh well. One brand that stood out was Shelter Point. They have quite a few options and I really want to get some more next time I'm back

Some get better and some don't. Just got a bottle of this one today cause it's local and I needed another bottle of rye. I actually like this, I'm not gonna say it's a particularly good value at the price ($45 for 750ml) but it's got a lot of sweeter flavors, a good spiciness combined with a kind of harsh woody finish. If they can tone down the woody finish just a smidge I could really see this brand going places. It's a major improvement on their bourbon which first came out a few years back.

Yeah, that's why I usually get some Jameson that sits at 20EUR.
But I'm just having some Maker's Mark for the first time right now and oh WOW for 25 EUR I did not expect it to taste that close to Eagle Rare.
Sure it's less interesting overall, doesn't have that kickass wild strawberry flavour and smells a little of acetone but it's almost as pleasant to drink for 10 EUR less.

I think I finally found my daily drinker. Sure it's probably more expensive than in the US but that's bourbon for you. Scotch tastes like vomit and Irish whiskey tastes diluted (well, going for writer's tear probably wasn't the best choice for full bodied flavour either). I think I can justify the 5 EUR to myself with it being 5% ABV more or something and stock up.
If I could get some Rebel Yell small batch reserve for the same price I'd go for that instead without a doubt as it's much more complex, so I'd recommend to amerifriends trying that one out.
