i never liked mayonnaise until I made it myself. homemade mayo is one of the biggest differences with no real effort required. any other huge differences between store bought foods and homemade/grown? tomatoes are another one, no flavor from stores but delicious homegrown

I buy meat in bulk at Costco. I used to be a meat cutter there. It's cheaper per pound to ask for a cryo-vac sealed bag of the meat and to trim down the fats and cut it yourself. They do send most meats through the tenderizer so you will have to get a jaccard or just skip this step. Get freezer bags in bulk while you're there and then you can buy meat very cheap per pound, trim and cut it to your desired amount, and wrap/freeze and store it for months.

Some of the meats that are easy to trim yourself include flank steak, tri-tip, Sirloin cap meat, top round, filter
The more tedious ones are the NY strip loin, ribeye, sirloin, top round.
There are videos on youtube for any cut just have a very sharp knife and be okay with losing some red meat the first few times.

That's probably the most 'savings' you can find at Costco.

Don't get the chicken bakes from the freezer, they're nothing like the ones you get from the food court.
Also pick up some nice thick strips of pork belly.

I always get chicken nuggets from Costco.
They've got two varieties, spicy in a tempura batter or regular in breadcrumbs
The spicy tempura ones have the absolute best texture and juiciness but they're far too spicy to be enjoyable unless you've got a good creamy dip to contrast the heat - in which case they're fucking amazing.
Cook them to instructions.
The breaded ones aren't as good since breadcrumb coating is shit IMO, but i guess if you like that then you'll enjoy these ones.
Personally I cook them double length to get them a bit crispier since they're sort of too soft and disappointing at the recommended cooking length, but I think it makes them better.

Fully recommend either on some good bread with nice cheese, herbs + spices, and a good sauce.

Fucking absolutely underrated post.

Burger is delicious and typically uniform from store to store. Their salmon filets are actually fresh so buy with caution if you aren't going to eat it today or tomorrow. Avoid the kirkland brand chicken breasts, they have become woody lately. It's a texture that tastes and feels like the meat has been cooked in a microwave and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. The brioche buns are top tier for sandwiches/burgers. Buy Kerry Gold butter unless you're poor.

Idk what your budget is but when I go I always get a half salmon and braise it in the oven with olive oil, lemon, and whatever seasoning I have around.

I usually just eat it like that but you can have it over rice or with some veggies.
