Fruits, whole grains, legumes, and beans, all basically have been proven in study after study to have a ton of health benefits. Keto completely removes all of these. Even milk and potatoes provide almost all the nutrition you need but are said to be bad because carbs.

Keto works because it forces you to cut out junk food and makes it harder to overeat, not because carbs are inherently bad, and you can do those things without completely cutting carbs.

We've been eating fruit/grains/beans for longer than the modern food guide's existence and the modern obesity issue. It's stupid to blame carbs. You know what's a bigger change? The amount of technological developments that made it so most people don't have to farm their own food and can do nothing but sit around and eat all day.

You're also ignoring that the longest-living populations get a large portion of their calories from carbs. And that countries like Japan have low rates of obesity in spite of their high intake of white rice. You will get fat on any diet if you take in more calories than you need.

The fact the one thing ketogenic diet is indisputably beneficial for is treating intractable epilepsy yet almost no epileptics can tolerate it even though *it actually works* should tell you something about how not meant for human consumption that approach to diet is.
To break this down some more, these epileptic seizures they have cause them to suffocate to the point of turning purple, gives them brain damage that makes additional epileptic seizures even likelier in the future, happens commonly in response to stress (meaning you know if you feel worried about it you're actually making one more likely to begin), makes them drop to the floor spasming and shitting their pants, etc.
Yet the ketogenic diet is *worse* than that. It has one of the most notoriously poor tolerance rates of any treatment, even when counting shit like chemo therapy.
If you look at the data on the kids who've been placed on the ketogenic diet as a treatment for childhood epilepsy, the normal annual incidence of pediatric kidney stones is something like 3.7 per 100,000 kids, compared with 1 in 10 kids on the ketogenic diet:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2852806/
>There have been several reports about renal calculi developing in children on the ketogenic diet since the first report more than 30 years ago.9-11 The prevalence of renal caculi in people on the ketogenic diet is 3-10%, compared with 1 in several thousand in the general population.12 Chronic acidosis, dehydration, low urine pH, and fat malabsorption all contribute to the formation of uric acid and calcium oxalate stones.9,10
That's an increase in annual kidney stone risk by a factor of 2,700.
If you do "keto" and don't have epilepsy you're completely retarded.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27385608
>Energy expenditure and body composition changes after an isocaloric ketogenic diet in overweight and obese men.
>The carbohydrate-insulin model of obesity posits that habitual consumption of a high-carbohydrate diet sequesters fat within adipose tissue because of hyperinsulinemia and results in adaptive suppression of energy expenditure (EE). Therefore, isocaloric exchange of dietary carbohydrate for fat is predicted to result in increased EE, increased fat oxidation, and loss of body fat. In contrast, a more conventional view that "a calorie is a calorie" predicts that isocaloric variations in dietary carbohydrate and fat will have no physiologically important effects on EE or body fat.
>CONCLUSION: The isocaloric KD was not accompanied by increased body fat loss but was associated with relatively small increases in EE that were near the limits of detection with the use of state-of-the-art technology.

Not being digested is the entire point.

>Dietary fibre used to be known as ‘roughage’, and refers to a group of substances in plant foods which cannot be completely broken down by human digestive enzymes.
It's even dubious as a constipation treatment:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3435786/
>Dietary fiber is also associated with increased bloatedness and abdominal discomfort[22]. Insoluble fiber was reported to worsen the clinical outcome of abdominal pain and constipation[18-20]. In our recent study, patients who followed a diet with no or less dietary fiber intake showed a significant improvement, not just in their constipation, but also in their bloatedness. Patients who completely stopped consuming dietary fiber no longer suffered from abdominal bloatedness and pain. These symptoms are caused by the fermentation of dietary fiber by colonic bacteria, which produces hydrogen, carbon dioxide and methane[23]. Gases that are trapped by peristaltic colon exert pressure on the walls, causing the abdominal pain experienced by patients.
>In conclusion, contrary to popularly held beliefs, reducing or stopping dietary fiber intake improves constipation and its associated symptoms.
And here's a positive study about fiber:

>Dietary fiber consists of many different constituents, however; some are of particular interest and include arabinoxylan, inulin, β-glucan, pectin, bran and resistant starches. These individual components of dietary fiber have been shown to significantly play an important role in improving human health.

Regarding Keto--just cut out the obvious empty bullshit (all fast food, including pizza and related items like pasta and bread/rice heavy "prepared for you" bullshit)--that's step one. Step two is refined sugars--cut high sugar empty bullshit like soda, most desserts, *condiments* and most breakfast items (pancakes, maple syrup...all that shit) and lastly...space your meals.

Basically don't eat fast food, cook for yourself, know what to cook and skip the sweets. AND SPACE MEALS. That's the Keto part--do you have to shovel food down your gullet all day? NO. One to two solid meals a day, along with at least 10k steps a day, minimum. It's not rocket science. Low calories and carbs, high protein and healthy fats. Seek the foods that fit that model and COOK YOUR OWN MEALS. That way you control salt, sugar, and starch levels. It's not rocket science...it's health over time on a x/y axis chart, that's all. Plot your point.

eating a high starch low fat diet will not make you chronically hungry. In fact you'll feel fuller.

it is the high fat diet that makes people chronically hungry.

why? because the body craves glucose, not fat. Fat is a high calorie sludge that is difficult for the body to utilize, so it stores it in body fat and slowly burns it.

Glucose can be put to use right away and this means less hunger.
