Just tried these for the first time. I'm absolutely blown away at human ingenuity. What are some other name brand fruits or vegetables specifically bred for their flavor?

I've started to see these at Publix recently, what the fuck are they? Grapes that have produced to be extra sweet or something?

Borneo used to shill these. It was like 3 years before I actually saw them and when I tried one I was immediately like, "bleeeh, i fucking hate cotton candy!"

Yeah pretending to hate the taste of sugar doesn't make you special, retard.

No, they literally taste like cotton candy. I was skeptical at $11.13 for a bag at whole foods. But the taste is beyond any fruit I've ever had, my fingers smelt like cotton candy when I got done eating a bowl. And the best part is they are not genetically modified, just bred.

If you eat so much sugar that you actually enjoy cotton candy or coke your taste buds are basically dead.

Rumor is they where trying to make a better wine grape, but failed.

They leave the taste of cotton candy in your mouth after you're done chewing one. first bite is vaguely cotton candy-ish, then it's a regular grape, then at the end it's a lingering cotton candy flavor. As if you just walked by a cotton candy machine and inhaled the smell. Not unpleasant, but not necessary either. Not worth the extra cost in my opinion. I'd rather pay extra for a grape that is somehow improved upon its grapeyness. Not just a flavor of something complete different tacked on.

Cotton candy doesn't even taste like anything. Rather eat grape flavored grapes

I work in the produce department of a grocery store. The cotton candy grapes are ehh. Personally I prefer the thomcord and the candy dream varieties.

Stop being so dramatic holy shit. This is a unique variety bred to be a novelty, you can still get regular grapes for less.

I like sugar just fine. All I'm saying is that if you actually enjoy that much sugar you're literally addicted and you'd have better tastebuds if you smoked a pack of reds a day. It's not that I don't enjoy a thing; it's that you're missing out on 90% of other things because you eat like a child.

Also this is why they're more expensive. I think it's interesting we can do stuff like this, doesn't seem like something to get upset over.

Fermented sugars typically taste nothing like the thing they come from. Most wine grapes are inedible right off the vine.

>Inedible
The sugar content must be high for the fermentation. Winemakers pefer grapes that are slightly older so that water is slightly evaporated and the sugar more concentrated.
