No. A full gallon of plain milk is 2400 calories which is what an average man needs. A single 12 oz glass of chocolate milk would be about 250 calories including sugar and that's if you're using whole milk.

There are definitely some meals that have a nice pairing of fresh ice cold milk as a good thing. A piece of rich chocolate cake. A PBJ sandwich. Maybe a bowl of beef stew or chili, bread and butter, and a tall milk, esp if spicy food.

Chocolate milk is a rare delicious alternative to a bowl of ice cream or a shake somewhere near bedtime, I guess. I'd rather have malted milk. I'm mostly going to squirt chocolate syrup into some coffee, or on top of ice cream, I must say.

Hate soda but I prefer iced coffee to chocolate milk.
The bitterness is more refreshing than the richness of chocolate in my opinion.
Still loaded with fat and sugar of course, but I enjoy it more.

Will still drink choco maybe once a year if I crave it.

Occasionally when I feel the craving I will cut up some bananas, add to blender with milk, ice, a good scoop of nesquik, and a little vanilla extract.

If you ever come to Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) try this, it's called Cacaolat, and it doesn't quiet taste like a classic chocolate milk, it has it's own notes, very fucking addictive and good tasting. Definitely recommend it.
