Some fag on 99chan years ago (when it was still basically g00n-run and therefore objectively better than anywhere else on the intertoilet including here) posted a youtube of his Mac and Cheese that I followed to the letter, and it was honest to god one of the greatest taste experiences of my life.

I now can no longer find this video so I have to rely on you guys (god help me). Here are my questions:

1. What’s the ideal sauce consistency to get this in pic related? A lot of times I’ve seen this dish, it comes out too solid looking which is why I avoided it for so long. His was like this, too - creamy, cheesy, but recipes I’ve looked at wildly vary on ingredients and methods without ever specifying this. I can make the bechemal and add cheese to it no problem, I’m just unclear on the ideal consistency to get this (more/less milk etc)

2. Can you add anything else? He had bacon in his but what other things can you add? What about using different kinds of pastas?

That’s it. Thanks, Americans. Europeans, please do not reply with your usual useless ‘advice’ and ‘input’ because you made a box of rip-off Russian Finnish-brand ‘kraft’ once, cheers.

It's just overcooked pasta + cheese + bread crumbs.
It shouldn't even be considered a recipe

i suggest using a crock pot :D (cook your noodles for like 2/3s the minimum time that you'd do for your pasta before you crock pot it though) (dont forget to drain pasta)
in the crock pot
your noodles, some sour cream, an egg, however much cheese you like, milk, tiny bit of whatever spices you enjoy (i suggest a pinch of cayenne, pinch of dry mustard, salt and pepper to taste), 1 can cheddar cheese soup, 4 tb butter separated into each tablespoon to be put in different parts of the crockpot.
stir well and put it on low, anon. stir well 20 minutes in, and every other 20 minutes stir lightly. itll be pretty much done when the cheese around the edge is a light golden brown color. takes about 2 hours.
it's my little siblings favorite. tastes best served hot, not too bad reheated on the stove.
you can add anything you want to it really, but if youre adding bacon, i suggest draining the grease and adding it at the 1 hour mark!!
if you really want the crumble on top, put some homemade crumbs on top and torch it a bit til its to your liking. :DD!!! ! !
have a good day anon, enjoy ur mac and cheese !! its how my great grandma used to make it !! if you want to know any good sides that she used to make to go with it, i'll be here for a while :D

also!!! forgot to say that i personally suggest the cavatappi noodles for this!!! all the grooves capture the cheese perfectly giving a nice amount of cheese with each bite :D

Alright, this was very helpful, thank you based Amerifriend. I haven’t got a crockpot but I like a lot of this method. The U.K. being the shithole it is, though, doesn’t have cheddar cheese soup which is completely gutting as I’d probably live on that. Good tip, too, on the spices, thank you.
