Should I buy a rice cooker for $20 or is that too much effort to keep clean?

>> No.12881513

>>12881504
Depends on the cooker. Mine was like 16 and it's really not much effort to clean at all if I'm just making regular rice.

I've had some experiments go wrong scubbing out sticky rice but that shouldn't be the norm.

I've had a couple different cheap rice cookers and both of them burn the bottom layer of rice that comes in contact with the bowl. Turning off the heating element and stirring as soon as the rice is done minimizes that but you're still better off spending more for a cooker that regulates temperature better.

Control the temperature as the rice cooks. Leaving rice on max heat is just gonna fuck everything up. Don't want to cook it too fast (dry) and don't want to cook it too slow (mushy). Different types of rice require different amounts of water too, so play around with that

this, this, and this. even expensive rice cookers are garbage. they always burn the fuck out of the bottom and there is absolutely no simple way to clean them. i've never understood how asians joke about how white people can't make decent asian food, yet every time i've been to a slant's home, they have one of these normie gadgets proudly displayed in their kitchens. meanwhile, i can make flawless rice in half the time with a cheap little sauce pot that i picked up at goodwill.

Try moving it around so one side doesn't get burnt then flattening it out every 5-10 minutes. Rice usually needs about 20 minutes. Once that's up, fluff it up, and transfer to a bowl that has plenty of room and let it sit 10 minutes.

>> No.12884211

Rice cookers are super easy to clean. Even if the shit is baked onto the bottom (which you can avoid by reducing your ratio of water:rice or with pre-rinsing the grains) cleaning it is as easy as filling and soaking it with hot water overnight, then wiping clean with a sponge.

Not sure where you got this from. Not all rice has arsenik in it you dummie. If it is grown in marshlands where arsenik is prevalent it does. That would mean: no rice you can buy in europe or the US or Canada has arsenik in it.

And no, the arsenik is not behind a fake moon landing either.

>> No.12888904

Your wrong about the US. The amount of arsenic varies based on the region it's grown. In the south it's fairly high, in CA it's lower. A simple search of arsenic in rice will prove it to you, meathead.
