You got blown the fuck out so hard in the pizza sauce thread that you had to make your own thread, huh?

There are exceptions to the rule. This is one of them. Frozen peas is another.

This is because using fresh, seasonal vegetables is not blind dogma, it is rational. Therefor exceptions are possible.

why frozen peas? to make that mushy peas thing that bongs eat?

How about using only what's in season, the way nature intended?

Are San Marzano tomatoes really that much better than regular canned tomatoes? My local Kroger doesn’t have them and I want to know if it’s worth it to go out of my way to get them

>Are San Marzano tomatoes really that much better than regular canned tomatoes?
No, they are literally all the same if you're taking them out of a can. All quality is lost during the canning process.

Don't believe me?

Try it out.

Buy San Marzano and the Wallmart brand. Make two equal sauces. See if you taste any difference.

I'll never understand why they will take perfectly good San Marzano Tomatos and pack them in a nasty tomato and salt syrup to marinate and ruin the flavor in the can.

I didn't grow enough maters for canning :(

Tomatoes are the single exception to the "canned veg is shit" notion
have you ever had to mash, stew, and then strain fresh tomatoes to get a smooth sauce without a fuckload of seeds and fibers? No? Canned tomatoes are the perfect consolidation of convenience and taste

you think literally any competent adult cook hasn't made sauces with cheap canned tomatoes and good ones? You're embarrassing yourself, because you obviously haven't.

Literally takes 30 seconds in hot water to skin them, more 30 seconds to cut them and discard the seeds. You are saving 2 minutes at most.

What the fuck are you gonna do when tomatoes are not in season? Use some shit tomatoes and spend 3 hours trying to cook them down to end up with a subpar result? Fucking kill yourself. Good quality Clcanned tomatoes are perfectly fine.

Eat something else? There's a reason most crops are seasonal.

Okay, uhm.. So I live in Scandi', and we don't get enough sun for fresh tomatoes. The ones we import at rubbish and gas-matured.

When I go to spain, I eat fresh wonderful tomatoes. All fucked-up and wonky tomatoes, but so delicious..

And when I'm back home, I.. Uhm.. I still like tomato sauce. So I use tinned tomatoes, instead of the shit "fresh" ones.

I guess thats a perfectly reasonable reason, isnt it?

I acknowledge good fresh tomatoes, but in case of choice between shit fresh tomatoes and tinned? I go for tinned.

Well who the fuck wants to eat pasta with pumpkin? Preserving vegetables is normal stop being a douche.

>Well who the fuck wants to eat pasta with pumpkin?
You can actually mix some pureed pumpkin into the dough and make delicious and very pretty pumpkin pasta. But anyway, there's aglio e olio and other varieties of pasta.
