God Tier and Mid Tier are essentially what your weekend eating should look like.

I'm disappointed in Low Tier. Steak & Kidney Pudding, Black Pudding, Kippers, Liver & Onion, Haggis and Faggots are all legendary and delicious British delicacies that should never fall out of fashion. Maybe if we weren't being overrun with foreigners more people would be voting for it.

Top Tier is what your midweek meals should be. The comforting British classics.

As the other anon said >>12865388 it's largely a climate thing. British food is roughly comparable to germanic and central european cuisines : lots of hearty stews - satisfying meals, but rarely what could be considered true "cuisine". It isn't food as art, it's food as a warm comfortable seat on the sofa.

Honestly though, for all the ridiculous amounts of shit it gets, especially on here, british food is really comfy. There's so much that's really damn good. Rhubarb crumble with custard is god tier. Really nice roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings are absolutely stunning, and some nice roast beef with horseradish and gravy is wholesome as fuck. Cauliflower cheese is always underrated too, especially done really nicely. And best of all, most all of british cuisine is easy to cook for yourself. Outside of faggots, black pudding, and yorkshire puddings, it's all very simple to make. The first two you kinda need to just buy, the latter you can learn but its a real bitch to do.

bonus round : elderflower cordial, scotch eggs, stilton on crackers, and nibbling a piece of really sharp cheddar.

damn I love british food

They're honestly surprisingly hard to make. There's a real knack to it, and especially to begin with they're easy to fuck up, especially by not having the fat/oil hot enough. Either put in a decent amount of time and practise attempts, or just buy premade yorkshires that are close to as good and vastly less effort. They're one of the foods where buying them premade isn't a completely dumb idea
