I might have been one of the only white people to ever eat there in the time it was around, staff were mystified

I've lived in the ghetto part of town for ~10 years while studying, cheap rent and cheap food. Generally, those rundown places were just as good as fast food "restaurants" in downtown, for half the price. Shabby interior and often none of the staff could speak German and gave me funny looks, but usually those are small family businesses and not big chains, so I like to support them.

a dozen varieties of fresh fish, along with a selection of shellfish and mollusks, on ice in a glass case for you to pick out. they'll just sell you fresh fish by the pound as well. i had the red snapper and two scallops. they serve that with fries, a type of salad (i had slaw but they also have potato and macaroni), and hush puppies or 2 slices of untoasted bread. i was with someone so they got hush puppies and i got the bread. the bit of hush puppy i tried was fine. the bread was phenomenal for getting a nice bite of fish, slaw, and hot sauce all at once. really excellent quality of food, not at all what i was expecting judging by the location and look of the place. one of the better lunches i've had in the past few months

I used to live in Chester Pennsylvania.
There was a chicken place there that would "sell" you the fried chicken raw, and for a quarter would fry it for you. This way you could buy the chicken with food stamps (but you had to find your own quarter). They sold all their food like this and at the start of the month were so busy there was a line out the door 24/7 and they'd stay open for 72+ hours.

Either a literal shanty fashioned from scrap metal and twine in Phnom Penh hawking what was basically Cambodian ramen or, if you just want to go the niggerniggernigger route, a shitty fucking seafood place in North Philadelphia I can't remember the name of where there was no table service, you order through bullet proof glass and the food is put on a similarly impervious lazy susan, like the ones you'd find at the bank for large deposits.
What few drop-ceiling tiles were actually up above me were stained. The restaurant also had a wide variety of small things behind the BPG for convenience like loose cigarettes, condoms, Aleve, an assortment of different types of batteries, socks/underwear, fidget spinners and more.
The Asians who ran the place yelled in unpleasant, nasal tones, sounding like angry waterfowl being flushed live down a rickety toilet.

As for the food: the fish was overdone. It was burnt. It melted the styrofoam clamshell take-out container it was placed in. As the first bite tasted plasticine, presumably from the melted styrofoam, I didn't bother with taking another. I threw out my fish, fries and even the tomatoes-and-okra side dish I ordered with it which was in an oysterpail-style container and went to Golden Krust for some Jamaican food instead.

I worked on a construction site in dubai and those of us who had a bunch of workers working under us had a really nice cantina to eat at with lots of food to choose from. One day I decided to eat with my guys on site at the place the workers would eat at. A city of shipping containers lined what would eventually be a resort parking lot and one of them was cut open with a wooden entrance area protruding out with a line of people coming out of it. When we finally got inside, the stench and heat of the airless container hit me like a literal wall and by the time I made it to the front to order I was already feeling the effects of dehydration. The man who runs the place was this dark skinned, indian man with sunken eyes, a mustache and a balding head. He was clearly over weight, sweating profusely and he spoke with a low, unintelligible tone. I order my tea, a few samosas and some sort of meat naan wrap, all for a few dirhams and sit with my workers at an electrical wire spool and converse.

I left early that day and I took the next day off. My asshole has never been the same since.

You'll find a lot of places in Buenos Aires trying to emulate European kitchens or concepts to varying degrees of success. Half the time you get a soulless "urban" place with carefully planned and made graffiti on the wall. Well-to-do fair-skinned city slickers lap that shit up as social media backdrops more than anything. Me and a buddy were on a field trip for a structural geology class doing survey work, way up north, close to fucking Bolivia. We were staying at a tiny town. Practically a couple dozen houses in a red-earth desert. All the people were deep deep brown, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were all soft-speaking vineyard workers that just wanted peace and quiet and were timidly respectful of me and my friend, both pale. We wanted food, something simple and fast before our bus departs. We walked into what looked like the front door to someone's house. It was effectively someone's living room; the walls had deep cracks in them due to a shifting foundation and there was just some cheap plastic furniture to sit at while eating, with a counter in front of a door leading to the rest of the house. They had Milanese cutlet sandwiches, a staple in this shithole country. The listed price for them was cheaper than even the most basic small meat-and-bread sandwiches I could get back in a dingy place in Buenos Aires.

Out came a foot-and-a-half long warm crusty roll split down the middle. Inside each roll were two ripping-hot breaded fried veal cutlets large enough to spill out of the bread from every angle, so tender chewing seemed optional. Copious amounts of ham and melty cheese, perfectly ripe and flavorful tomatoes, crunchy lettuce, two fried eggs likely from chickens I could hear clucking in the distance. And somewhere in there was garlic, likely a whole clove rubbed all over the bread. Served on grandma's china, take the plate if you want somewhere else, just bring it back later please. This was 2 US dollars. It was fucking glorious.

If you're ever going through Washington DC, Aladdin's Kitchen is the place to maybe look at in curiosity and keep walking. My family stopped there because it was about dinner time and we were looking for a local joint to try out.
The floors were greasy, the tables were largely unwiped, you could see that they had painted over the original blue/red interior with white because they did not cover the entirety of the walls. There were also holes in the wall from the screws where I assume hand sanitizer dispensers used to be. And the place was buzzing, quite literally. There were MASSIVE flies zooming around the joint, to the point where they put in a bug zapper by the window. and only really seemed to clean out the corner where the dead flies dropped on a weekly basis. The place was very Arabic, from the music to the people that would come in to pick up their orders and leave, which made my german and northeastern European-rooted family stand out a lot. The food was okay but it took forever to cook and came out in those small Styrofoam doggie-bag boxes. The two guys doing the cooking looked like they were more fluent in Sudanese Arabic than English. Overall, the food was meh but I have no idea how they pass food and safety inspections.

A rite of passage if you've ever been out in Bristol (UK). I've eaten in here whilst off my bonce on LSD, MDMA, Ketamine, and booze too many times to list. It's fucking horrendous food, the interior is literally missing ceiling and wall panels and has done since time immemorial. When I was a kid, coming back from a day trip to Banff with my family, we stopped at Mr.Sub because we never heard of it and was curious. I'm from Australia and despite me wanting to try out a bunch of American chains that we don't have over here, I usually didn't get the chance because I'd usually just go for a local meal instead most of the time.

Anyways I was staying in the Bronx and I really wanted food but it was late as fuck and cold so I couldn't really be fucked going out for a long time and finding a restaurant etc etc.

I knew there was a pop-eyes a little bit away so I went for a walk there but fuck me it was ghetto as fuck. Everyone was smoking joints just on the street which might be kinda common and while I'm for weed was kinda still weed to see it everywhere. As well as this, me and my little brother, he was 14, white as fuck, ginger, freckles were found in the craziest popeyes ever. I didn't feel too threatened desu I felt like people were nice but maybe I'm just naive.

4th Avenue area of Huntington WV had some decent restaurants when I visited years ago. The area used to be sketchy as fuck. That was back when the locals were transitioning from OxyContin to hey-ron, and the Detroit nogs were shooting up the place.

It wasn’t uncommon to find junkies passed out in restrooms of restaurants and used needles all over the place. Literally had to watch for needles in parks and playgrounds.

Drew my Glock on a few people in parking lots on different occasions. It was common back then to get jumped by feral blacks and some homeless white trash who were looking for money to buy drugs.

All in all, it was worth the hassle to eat at some of the local restaurants in their downtown area.

Ate at the Church’s Chicken next to the Frankford Transportation Terminal in Philly.
Basically, I just bought some chicken so my mother could use the Bathroom, since the bathrooms at the terminal were locked.
The chicken and the honey buttered bicuit were tasty.

I once ate at this tiny Hindu curry shop in Leicester with my dad, can of coke had dirt on top, it was serve yourself on steel prison trays, but dear god it was good little obese Indian woman serving fresh chapaties everyone you finished one, lovely weird tasty yogurt drink you got a bit of every curry the khadi was my favourite me and my dad both had the shits next day but we both said we would go again. Also the whole meal cost like £7 for it all 6 curries 6 chapaties 2 yogurt drinks 1 can £3.50 crazy.
