the fact that you don't see LA as a insane megaplex and a monument to the sins of man truly astounds me. At least places like New York have history and attractive places, or places like Chicago as well. LA and Houston both are basically bloated strip malls and miles and miles of concrete and congested intersections. SoCal has good quality versions of any type of cuisine you can think of, though nothing really mindblowing or must eat. Sushi, seafood, and spic food are generally better than other parts of the country.

Went there back in April for a couple of days (am from Germany).

Went to Langers Delicatessen, wasn't disappointed at all, had the pastrami with liverwurst, can definitely compare to places in nyc.

also went to a little thai place called Ruen Pair on Sunset... 5/5 would visit again.

There are just so many places in LA though, its a massive place, biggest I've ever seen im terms of sheer size (traffic is a nightmare though).

I've lived in So Cal my whole life. LA proper has a lot of good, pricey stuff. Santa Ana has the best Vietnamese food in the US (Pho especially is super competitive so a good, giant bowl is like 8 bucks). Most taquerias are good, I like king taco as a chain. Never pay more that 10 bucks a meal for Mexican. Everyone shit talking LA is a stinky flyover mongrel who have never moved passed their 3 dollar garbage plates. On that note, California wine is shit but no one here will admit it.
