Why do people in NY or Philly act like they have the best of a thing just because they were famous for it at one point? Any group of anyone anywhere can make good pizza, pasta, cheeseteaks etc

I used to shit on anyone who had a regional preference for anything and always chalked it up to stupid "local pride", until I started traveling a bit and realized I couldn't find a better place for coney dogs outside of the Detroit area

Now, I just kind of let it be, perhaps some things are bullshit perhaps some are true. I have a theory too about this, and it's maybe because a lot of this shit like forms of pizza, hot dogs, steak sandwiches, etc are all pretty much just junk food, so maybe some people who are just a little more passionate about it than others who just make it with minimal effort because who cares its just ____, so the little things matter more, I don't know

You're right, anyone can make good food. But the standard for good food in other areas just does not compare to NY/Philly. Especially in regards to price.

I can go to just about any shitty pizza place in that area and it will most likely be miles ahead of something you pay double for elsewhere.
