>calling it cilantro
It's coriander. It's an herb that English people have known about since Roman times. Only Mexicans call it cilantro, and any time an American calls it cilantro, he's cucking himself to Mexico. Be a white man and call it coriander.

Coriander is the seed of this plant and is therefore a spice. The leaves are cilantro, an herb

It was known as coriander to the Founding Fathers. It only became cilantro in the 90s because hipsters wanted it to be "more authentic" when talking about Mexican food.

>>12641487
False. Coriander leaves are called "coriander leaves".

Agreed.

And while we're at it, the correct English name of Eruca sativa is "rocket," not "arugula." Hell, "arugula" isn't even correct Italian (they call it "ruchetta," "rughetta," "rucola," or "ruca," depending on the dialect). It's a garbled rendering apparently introduced by some New York Times food writer in the 1960s.

It was called that for hundreds of years before anyone heard of any other kind of rocket. It's from the French "roquette," which in turn comes from the Latin "eruca."

You dumb piece of shit. Americans live in the fucking American Continent. In the Americas, it's called fucking cilantro. What tubby butty eating bongs call it has no relevance here, unless we're translating your wonkydonkey tipsydoodle fucking Shire-speak. Go fuck yourself.

We call the herb cilantro, and the seed coriander. I think this is actually more efficient instead of saying "coriander leaves" and "coriander seed" all the time, because it's just one word for each using cilantro/coriander.
