Pad thai is a sweet westernized dish. There are a ton of better "rice noodles and other shit" thai dishes with a wider assortment of flavors, with fish sauce and basil and lime and chili. Also vietnamese>thai

Let's be honest here, most people griping about south east asian food, which is the flavor of the month for bitching, probably haven't tried it. Eating at places aimed at Americans aren't going to try to make their food; not only will it not appeal to a lot of customers but a lot of the ingredients will be more difficult to find.

It's not overrated if it and dishes like it are all over the god damn world. It's just meat broth with bone marrow. basic as fuck. Where I'm from I had the same thing but with cabbages growing up because it's cheap and has a lot of fat, salt, and protien content to get you going in the morning. Everyone drinks meat broth and uses it in dishes all over the world so this isn't a big stretch.

I think it's way overpriced for what's pretty much recycled butcher trash boiled in water, with other shit that costs virtually nothing thrown in with it, however. I'm sure it's cheaper in the goblin shithole its from though.

In general Americans love to have strong opinions on cuisines from countries they've never been to. Eating at, e.g., an Ethiopian restaurant in America isn't going to be authentic Ethiopian food even if the restaurant is run by Ethiopians. It amazes me that Americans don't realise this.

Every time there's a /ck/ thread about a particular country's cuisine you can always tell there's a bunch of mutts chiming in whose only experience of that country's cuisine is going to a local restaurant once or twice.
