I also had the salmon eggs the other day at an all you can eat sushi place and was suprised at how much i liked them. Salty but had a nice flavor as well. The following was my damage:

6 pieces unagi
6 pieces yellowtail
2 pieces salmon roe
2 pieces octopus
2 pieces mackarel
2 pieces tuna
Miso soup
1/2 order rainbow roll
1/2 order spider roll

Howd i do? It was 28$ for the all you can eat...also, mackerel was fucking gross. Nice texture though.

I haven’t tried much sushi, but anytime I go, I always get some type of nigiri combo. I don’t know sushi well enough to really differentiate the different tastes in the fish they use, but it always ends up being pretty good. I like spicy tuna rolls too.

Maki rolls are superior to standard sushi. If you want sushi just get sashimi, its all the best parts without the filler. Then get maki rolls like green dragon/dynamite.

You have only had bad unagi. I guarantee it. Unless you went to a very high end sushi shop or specifically went to a restaurant that specializes in Unagi (do they even have these outside of Japan?) you have only ever had bad unagi. Personally I enjoy it for what it is, but the good stuff is a completely different experience with a high price tag.

I'm surprised people like uni this much. It's definitely interesting in that I can't say it reminds me much of any other kind of flavors, but it certainly wasn't the sort of thing where I wanted to keep eating fifty pieces of it because it was so great tasting.

Nah. Like I said I really can't compare it to anything. It's rich / fatty tasting while also having some sense of being from the sea.
