take your shit ass back to ihop tapatio. valentinas is best mexican hot sauce. there are categories of hot sauce and mexican isn't even the best category but we had to make this a fair fight.

Every morning I'll half-scramble 2 or 3 eggs in butter and whip them up with some salt, fresh cracked pepper, and tapatio on a nice piping hot tortilla

gets me ready for the day

I'd do that but it'd burn twice as worse coming out as it did going in.

tapatio taste WAY more like vinegar than valentina extra hot. maybe the plain valentina is a little heavy on it but really? tapatio taste like someone spilled salad dressing on a chilli flakes.

...you sure you aren't thinking of another sauce, maybe cholula? Tapatio has no vinegar at all.

honestly i think i was thinking of cholula because i was thinking ihop. i've had tapatio too though and i'm still remembering it being sharp. but i guess i may be crazy.

I've had both side by side. Cholula is way sharper than tapatio and I definitely prefer tapatio

Tapatio is low tier. It has all the markings of an inexpensive, entry-level hot sauce. Notice how it's a homogeneous mixture -- you can't see the different vegetables and spices in it. The flavor isn't anything noteworthy either. Wow, geez, there's "red peppers," "spices," and "garlic" in it (look at the ingredients list)? Pretty simple and bland list of ingredients. To top it off, do you even know the peppers they use? Whatever it is, it's not interesting. The scoville rating is a laughable 3,000.

I prefer Bunster's Black Label. It uses scorpion and bird's eye chilis, in a base consisting of orange juice, onions, apple cider vinegar, coriander, lime juice, and goji berries. The scoville rating is 70,000 to 100,000.

Continuing...

Seriously, this thread is cringe. I remember back when I was getting into hot sauces... I used to be impressed by shit like Tapatio, Cholula, etc.

Those hot sauces are a meme because they're "ethnic" so people think it's special. But the flavor just isn't there. I don't just mean they lack heat, either. I mean the flavor is mediocre. Quality hot sauces should be a somewhat chunky, thick mixture of vegetables with a sharp, interesting flavor and bold heat. Crappy hot sauces are one-dimensional, homogeneous watery mixes you drip on your eggs. It's night and day.

Okay. So what's your favorite hot sauce?

I can't wait for you to say something like Tabasco or Frank's Red Hot.

I don't see why it's so hard to understand that mass-produced hot sauces use cheap, tasteless peppers, low-quality spices, few if any optional vegetables, and have a bland flavor profile.

Note that I don't just mean they're not generally spicey (though they're not). There are also shitty meme hot sauces with chili extract. Those deliver heat but also zero flavor.

Once you've had a good hot sauce there's no going back.

Have you ever been on /v/? People have all kinds of favorites. Video games are the most normalfag hobby there is, not everyone's favorite is going to be some obscure shit.
Also if you thought this board was for enthusiasts you're a fucking idiot.

That's the whole point of pepper extracts or some very hot sauces though. Delivering heat without changing your food's flavor

For the latter you don't slather it unless you want to prank someone.
