I think that it's mostly weak. I probably have some resistence from drinking quite a lot of coffee over the years. From what I found out, that type of coffee contains 2-5% caffeine, so a cup that the package suggests is 2g, that's 40mg caffeine. A big cup would be 80 mg, and two cups the same as an energy drink (without the sugar and shit).

No it's from the roast date as the co2 level is diminishing (actually way too high for about a week after roasting) and volatile flavour compounds will vaporise and enter atmosphere when you open the bag instead of being extracted into the water used to brew your coffee. Additionally oils will oxidise and change flavour over time although this will be mitigated by not opening the bag.

I usually like going high heat to serve it up piping hot and fresh made to sip on. I feel like if you let it sit in the pot longer you'll get more of the aroma in the room, and possibly less flavor in your drink. But that's just hypothesis, I do not own a moka pot at this current time.

Put hot water in the reservoir first off, then high heat (with the burner already preheated before you put the moka on) until it fills up a bit less than halfway. Pull it off the heat then and once the coffee chamber is full, run the water reservoir under cold water to stop brewing.

I find that milk and creamer both affect the coffee flavor more than heavy cream.

Don't have an espresso machine or a steam wand so I like to fill my mug up with boiling water beforehand to get the heat evenly high, then add the cream after letting it sit out of the fridge for a few minutes. Works a lot better than microwaving it and having it curdle.

You could try being decadent and upping the dose to use it faster. If you've got an espresso machine try a triple basket and pull 20g doubles. Or just use it to experiment if you've been curious about some brewing methods. 2 coffees a day in a French press will use 1kg in less than a month (like 3 weeks).

In any case it's not like beans become totally gross after a month they just start tasting more generic. You don't get the "tasting notes" ringing as true.

If I were you I'd kick the k***g out and start drinking light/medium roast coffee as it'll have a larger flavour profile. Dark coffee can be good but more often than not has a heavy tobacco kind of taste due to it being roasted longer.

Throw away the machine, it is literally inferior to a stovetop kettle. Get a Burr grinder first, and then whatever brewer you want. Don't you understand, to get full-flavor bold coffee you have to brew at a 1:1 pour-over. NO EXCEPTIONS. Anything else is just wasting your money. Actually you should just skip the pour over and toss the grinds in your mouth and swish with water.

I have a 1L french press and it fills my coffee thermos and around half of one of my cups, I fill the rest of that cup up with milk to cool it down so I can down it in a few seconds, then sip the rest of the coffee black from the thermos over the work day

I have a stovetop maker and have used an illy preground which was fine for what it was. I ordered freshly roasted coffee online ground for my stovetop and didnt open it for 4 days. I did my usual routine:
>use filtered boiling water, let it rest for a minute
>pour into bottom chamber below safety valve
>put grinds in the mesh bit, not tamping
>screw top and bottom bit together and place on medium heat on pre-heated hob
>remove from heat and apply col towel when it spouts from the top and starts hissing
It has an odd sourness to it and tastes a bit weak. It's a medium roast. Am I doing anything wrong? I know coffee loses a massive amount of flavour when it's pre-ground but still. Should I have let it rest for more than 4 days? Is my process wrong? I want to perfect it before my grinder arrives and I make the switch to wholebean.

I recently bought the Sumatra Kerinci from Ceremony Coffee Roasters, which is based out of Annapolis, MD, USA. I think it may be too light of a roast.

I was a "no bullshit" coffee kind of guy, cream + sugar and nothing else, and I drank tons and tons of coffee for a long time and only recently discovered the joys of espresso... A double shot of espresso really delivers a good hit of energy to the fuckin body, eh??
