How is it weird? I love it as a snack on it's own, but it also goes in fucking everything. Salads, soups, stews, sauces. Celery is awesome. Really freshly picked celery actually has a sweetness to it. It's refreshing, satisfying, and tasty.

yup, celery is absolutely repulsive except where it is incorporated in a soup or broth where it ironically loses its shitty qualities (flavor, fibrous texture).

The inner stalks of celery are good because they aren't so fibrous and the leaves are more tender and full of flavor. Most people would probably like eating those. It's the outer stalks that make you feel like you're chewing on string that suck.

I once ate a whole bag of celery and then shit out a massive log the size of a toddler's arm with no pain or straining.

I had a boy throw up in my hair as a kid. When my mom was washing it out, I saw chunks of celery fall into the tub. I've hated celery since then.

I love raw celery but I'm allergic to it, it makes my mouth itch.

A very specific flavor and if you're hungry and e.g. waiting for a real meal, it's better than nothing but I'd be surprised if anyone choose celery over literally any other raw-edible vegetable.
