Psyllium husk is used in just about every processed food that they want to add fiber back into. Why not supliment with chia seeds and/or ground flax? Give your body more diverse forms fiber than the same kind you are probably already consuming.

For further reading and viewing, Rhonda Patrick did a really good interview on this topic: https://www.foundmyfitness.com/episodes/the-sonnenburgs

Expensive?! Where are you located and where do you do your shopping? The junk food you are buying to plug up your guts are expensive if you look at the calories and nutrients you get from them.

don't bother with the ground up horseshit that is metamucil, get psyllium whole husks and flavor it yourself. much more tolerable.

Do not use this if you have hemorrhoids or anal fissures. Sure it makes your poops soft, but it bulks them up too which can tear your fissure or irritate your hemorrhoid.

It's fiber; mostly soluble fiber. It is both anti-constipation and anti-diarrhea. Once you figure out the daily dose that's best for you, you'll have consistent, daily 3's and 4's on the Bristol stool chart.

If you buy metamucil you support Gilette (they're co-owned by the same company).
Just get plain psyllium husk, its much cheaper and doesn't support the anti-male agenda.

Both of those conditions are caused by damage to the anal sphincter due to 'bearing down' to pass reluctant stool (constipation).
If you start taking a little psyllium with a lot of water and gradually increasing the dose each day it actually cures haemorrhoids and fissures.

>> No.12471731

be careful with that stuff. You gotta drink lots of water if you take it.

r you me? I took husk after having constipation problems with rice. At the same time I was limiting my liquid intake because I was getting up to pee at night.
One day while straining to get a huge one out, something happened. I got a fissure, and for the next 3 years, pooping was agony. blood everywhere.
It finally healed, no more pain, no more blood. My diet of beans, bread, vegetables and pasta seemed to do the trick. I feel like a new person.

So you took a large dose of it when a small dose would have been more appropriate, then didn't drink enough water?
That's not the psyllium's fault, that's yours, you retard.

don't take psyllium if you're on any kind of medication, when it absorbs water in your stomach and gels up it will also absorb any medications floating around in your stomach and cause complications with absorbing them. consider wheat dextrin like benefiber. wheat dextrin also mixes easier into drinks and food

level up your poo game

I took a regular dose with a big glass of water.
I thought that was good enough.
But it's not. Like someone else said. Use a small amount with lots of water first, see what happens, and gradually increase if needed.

I tried doing this everyday for a few months but it didn't do anything. Didn't change my appetite nor the consistency of my stool. Plus it was a pain to drink since it would precipitate out of solution and form a gelatinous layer in the bottom of the cup. And you have to drink it 3 times a day to get the full benefit. The capsules are worse since you have to take 6 at once, 3 times a day. There has to be a more efficient way to get extra fiber.

I ripped open my butt and got a fissure in my thirties. I was in agony for 3 years. It can happen to anyone. Don't fuck around constipation. Change diet (eat more fibrous starchy foods) and don't use husk. Stay way from rice also; it is highly constipating. Straining bowl movements can give you a stroke too.
