How much does it cost where you live? Around here (AZ) it can be found for as low as $18 a fifth. The most I've ever paid was $25, and that was because it was from a gas station in the middle of nowhere. $18-$25 for 15 pours isn't expensive by any means, though it is kind of overpriced considering it's about on par with Evan Williams which I've bought for as low as $9 a fifth.

Boomer meme. A lot of musicians would drink it back in the day. Frank Sinatra would drink a bottle of jack every day in his best alcoholic times. Bottle design is very memorable, I'd say it's the selling point. Britfag here. Jack is actually pretty delicious at its price point. Retails full price at around £25, but can always be found for £15 at one of the major retailers. We don't have Evan Williams for cheap. The only other whiskeys available at that price point are Famous Grouse, Bell's etc, real nasty tasting shite. JD actually tastes pretty nice with coke and has a nice charred flavour. The only comparable whiskey at the same price point is Jim Beam, and while I prefer JD I usually just buy whichever is discounted at the store I'm at.

I like JD's smoother finish better than EW's finish, where it lightly claws at your esophagus on the way down, but it definitely trumps JD on price (Florida prices: $19.99 for JD; $12.98 for EW), so it's a wash.
