Someone gave this thing to me as a gift, but I don't really know what to use it for since I am not really into cheese and chocolate fondue, also it looks like a pain to clean up, what can I use it for other than fondue? Can I use it to make soup or cook pasta? What about minestrone?

can't you just use oil and like deep fry anything? when I was a kid my friend had one, I think it was filled with oil. he deep fried some cheese but left it on the bottom of the pot and it hardened like glue, he pulled harder and the pot fell on his leg. his parents put him in the bath tub and burnt skin floated up to the surface of the water

Sorry I didn't mean your story I meant your suggestion that you could use a fondue pot for deep-frying. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Nacho cheese made with evaporated milk.

I know you said you don't like plain cheese fondue but nacho cheese is a different flavor profile for me entirely.

I'd also say maybe a someone thinned caramel sauce.

It doesn't get hot enough for cheese melting to. You do that on the stove beforehand

no worries I'm definitely speaking from personal experience with zero empirical knowledge through the lense of a child, I just remember cooking stuff in oil with a fondue pot, and the accident

Okay hold on what kind of heating element are we talking about here? It sounds a little too much for one of those little candles I associate fondue with.

No, it's a Fondue pot. It's specifically for that.

If it's like pictured, think of it like a toy. A candle is only going to keep items warmed through for just some small period of time, and it's after it's been pre-prepared on the stovetop.

Other uses for a "warmer" would be for dipping sauces like melted butter for dipping seafood. As part of a buffet (assuming you entertain, which is where you'd use fondue), these pots are cute ways to ladle out gravies, serve meatballs in gravy, maybe even hollandaise, but they are not that warm at all, candles are crap.

There are higher end le crueset style pots that have hot plates underneath them that both hold the heat, as well as allow you to cook in them, even fry. This style is a party gimmick. Unless lactose intolerant, not sure why you can't just pack it away and design some party menus around bringing it out from time to time.

often there are specific pastes supplied by th manufacturer of your fondue pot
if you are careful you can also get more heat using spiritus but keep in mind that some pots will be a bit charred on the bottom bc of the more intense temperatures

a proper fondue pot i just a regular lacquer pot. you can use it for anything. just use it like a normal cooking pot. why is this a thread? why are americans so stupid. the world may never know. wear it as a hat, or beat your self to death with it

Aren't you supposed to grind the coffee beans before combining it with hot water?
