Someone figured out that letting people make one cup of coffee at a time and being able to switch between brews instantly is something people wanted. Also no filters or messing with loose grounds. But then they also figured out that they could lock machines to use only certain cups, and they sold you the cups. So they could sell you the machine, then restrict you to their brand of cups. Unrelated question, but if I drink enough coffee will my body eventually get used to it? I've never been able to drink coffee without shitting my brains out. You can make far superior coffee with an electric kettle, French press, and a burr grinder with about the same footprint. If the grinder noise is an issue, you can get a hand crank one, or keep it at home and grind your coffee to take to work. Keurigs are stupid meme machines, even more than Mr. Coffees.

Schöfferhofer Weizen if you want an alternative sort of beer with a fruity taste. Try St. Bernardus 12 if you want to try a classic Quadrupel.
