i do find this rather fascinating though, as someone who is from north america and now lives in germany. there are "american diners" here which are imitating the route 66 diner aesthetic, but do so with the same candor as an "italian" restaurant in america with cheap leaning tower of pisa figurines and italian flag napkins. it's something i never really expected but upon thinking about it for a few minutes it makes total sense.

although one specific part i found funny is that nobody here seems to be aware that blackface is a cultural taboo in (most of) north america, or what it really is at all. the "american diner" in my city has those retro advertisement metal prints with stuff for like 5 cents or whatever, and a bunch of them have little blackface kids with big puffy lips and giant ears and all. it's pretty funny how despite being very socially progressive they seem to have just totally missed that memo, lol

you can get german ingredients in regular American aisles, but finding Indian masalas might be a bit harder. My mom is from Germany and she could do her shopping perfectly fine at Safeway and Trader Joes. she'd only go out of her way to find a German section in a store or a european specialty store in its entirety if she specifically wanted Germany candies or drinks. The "international foods aisle" in my local Kroger's has many KEK's.

For example, the 'British' section has some teas and cookies, then the entire rest of it is all halal and Arabic writing products.
The 'German' section has some tinned sprats and Vitawater, and the rest is all Kosher and Med/Greek food.
There was a 'Swedish' shelf with those hard crackers and salty licorice, and now it's African couscous and a selection of boxed fruit beverages with IDK kind of writing.

The entire rest of the isle is taco shit, indian shit and pasta.
