Butthurt gaijin copypasta aside, I don't see any problem with it. Korean dishes is just as boring as well. Chinese only do a bit better because of massive region that gives variety.. Taiwan is literally chinese export. Perhaps southeast asia is more interesting ones because of variety of spices. India is boring as well.
Also, sake, mirin, soy sauce, sugar, bonito flakes.. literally is base for savoury taste. This is like complaining western food spices are based from salt, pepper, garlic, and butter. Why what.
Unless you're living there and suffer there is no point of the post. .
