>drown their food in high fat high sodium dressing and add all sorts of carbs and fried shit just to make it edible
>also predominantly use vegetables with barely any nutritional value like lettuce
>claim they're eating healthier than you
Why are saladfags like this?

>> No.11906907

because they're fat fucks. I hate too much dressing. I want to taste the bitter greens and sweet fresh green peppers. tangy tomatoes, crispy Isrealights etc.

>Snacks are healthy It says so on the package. Look it even has extra calcium.
>Don't forget to eat every 3 hours or you'll pass out! Don't worry, all those refined carbs and HFCS will make sure you will get hungry that often.
>What do you mean you're overweight, got diabetes and are at high risk for heart disease. Just take 8 pills a day and they'll lower your chance of dying by 1%. It's scientifically proven!

Just advertise something as healthy and it's like shit to a fly. But whatever lies and decent they can use to keep you buying more shit.

My "health-conscious" teenage cousin eats nothing but caesar salad when we go out. Once when we went to a pancake place she asked them to make her a goddamn caesar salad pancake and they did it. I tried implying that it's not actually healthy but she got angry so now I just leave it.

You'll feel pretty unsatisfied if you just eat a mixture of vegetables with lemon juice as a meal. If you want a salad as a meal, you need to add fat and protein and other stuff, because even though vegetables are good for you, they don't provide everything you need.

Well why even do it then if you have to force yourself, there are much tastier things that are also much healthier. It's about as logical as forcing yourself to eat mcd's every day.

You can make a healthy salad even if you add a fatty dressing and some fried croutons, those things aren't necessarily unhealthy. It's only when someone thinks they're eating a salad to lose weight and drowns it in 1k calories of dressing that it's really an issue.

I usually make a big salad with a ton of mixed vegetables, then add hardboiled egg, seeds/nuts of some kind, cheese, and a buttermilk or yogurt dressing with herbs, pepper, etc.. I like the way it tastes, and it's not low in calories but that doesn't mean it's unhealthy.

>> No.11907226

The purpose of salad is not health or weight loss, its just bulk fiber to keep your shit pipes flowing freely. Dry salad is a hard sell. Even salad with all that rich crap added is still better than many other choices, and the bulk of the greens alone will limit calorie intake somewhat, compared to cheesy potatoes, meat, and cookies.

finally, some good fucking logic

>> No.11908212

It's actually easy to make a good tasting salad without adding high calorie ingredients.
>Start with a base of darker greens like spinach, kale, spring mixed greens, or arugula. These have a lot more nutritional value than romaine or iceberg lettuce.
>Add more vegetables, based on your preferences. The goal here is to make the salad more interesting by incorporating different flavors and textures, along with adding more nutrients. Practically any vegetable can be added to a salad, so just choose types that you like.
>Add protein, if the salad is meant to be a full meal rather than a side dish. Beans are good for this, as well as lean meat like grilled chicken breast.
>You can add toppings if you want, but be careful of the calories at this point. A tablespoon of cheese is fine, but don't overdo it. If you aren't concerned with a bit of carbs, fruits like dried cranberries, apple slices, or raisins are also a good option. Nuts tend to be higher in calories, but a small amount is okay.
>Avoid creamy dressings like ranch, caesar, thousand island, etc. The biggest mistake people make with "healthy" salads is drowning them in dressings like this. Instead, use a good vinegar (I like to use balsamic or red wine vinegar) along with salt and pepper for a very basic dressing. Adding more flavors like lemon juice, garlic, and herbs can make it even better.

Kek. This is why I don't eat lettuce. I just get cucumber, tomato, onions, olives, hearts of palm, chickpeas, whatever other veggies are available and eat them raw without salty, oily HFCS sauce.

And I feel equally unsatisfied by the same tastes of processed oil, excessive salt, HFCS and preservatives in every meal. Every meal with those ingredients have the same taste and it gets sickening when those are in every processed food product. Raw veggies taste bad but at least they have complexity to the taste and aren't disgustingly monotonous.

So what are some good healthy salad options ? Vinegarettes are better for you than dressings right? And what are some good things to use as the vegetables if you dont wanna use lettuce?

>> No.11909776

>>11908492
>Vinegarettes are better for you than dressings right?
Not necessarily. A real buttermilk or yogurt dressing won't be terribly high in calories unless you really use a lot, but it'll be filling because of the extra fat and protein which can be good for a salad.

You can use any vegetable in a salad, but tomatoes could be a good base with onion, herbs, oil, vinegar, and maybe mozzarella if you want some more fat and protein with it to make it a meal. Chickpeas are another good and more filling salad base, you can make them like the tomato salad but maybe use feta instead of mozzarella. Hardboiled egg, sliced chicken, other cheeses, etc. can all be good in a salad and having that stuff in there might make you less likely to overdress it too.

I knew a guy once and he would be like, "Dude salads are good for you, you can't eat too much salad." He would literally fill up a large stainless steel mixing bowl with iceberg, and absolutely drench it in ranch and load it with shredded cheese. He might have occasionally added tomatoes but that would be the only difference.

who in the fuck has an open jug of salad dressing just hanging about?
I honestly feel that half the problem of people drowning their salad in dressing is because they don't just put about a teaspoon or two on the greens first and get them dredged in dressing that way each bite has that flavour rather than two or three leaves on top that have half a serving of dressing on each.

>> No.11910935

A jug? Nobody, unless you're deliberately staging a photo to make it look nice.

A bottle? Most people, since they're too lazy to make their own dressings each time they make a salad.

Forcing people to recognise the 'marraige' of two sodomites as being in some way a real marraige is the very opposite of freedom.
Your government legislates that Christians cannot refuse to make blashpemous cakes for sodomites.
