Pizza Hut used to be an immersive family experience. The service was excellent and the food was moderately priced.

The salad bar was plentiful and everyone enjoyed the Lunch Buffet.

What are some places you miss?

I remember going here as a kid to eat at the restaurant. One time was for my birthday...and on the way home my dad was yelling at my mom and something happened and we ended up in the ditch. Good times.

I do have good memories of eating there though. The pitchers of soda, the red plastic cups and the smell. The arcade machines and bauble machines.

That's a really good word for it. I'm getting flashbacks to when I was a kid and your mom would take you there with a couple friends. It was like going to another world, you'd go into that cozy red roof building and get these amazing little personal deep dishes, and those buffets were fucking perfect.

I also have fond memories of Pizza Hut but for different reasons. It was my very first job after some NEETing after high school, when there was no delivery I would just chill and do fuck all, cozily reading the papers while the Canadian winter was raging outside, ate food for free and had great banters with the people there. Their pay was shit on slow days tho, like only 2.50$ per delivery.

I have such comfy memories of old fashioned pizza huts.. there used to be one just down the street from my house, with a blockbuster right across the street from it. On most fridays my mom would take us to blockbuster to rent some movies and get some snacks, but what I miss the most are those snowy nights when we’’d pick up some movies and stop by Pizza Hut on the way home.. there used to just be a certain feel to it.. the red roof, the triangle windows, the arcade machines, the demo discs they used to give. I miss it guys.

Puffin Billy's! But no one outside of this immediate area will even know what it was. it's pretty common in australia as well, for the simple reason that land and buildings are pretty fucking expensive and most of these were built 30 to 40 years ago and are probably still fine.
>pic related
used to be a pizza hut until the early 2000's. very weird memories, as we used to go there quite often for birthdays when it was a pizza hut with all you can eat dine-in, and occasionally when it changed to that restaurant. It ended up being the last dinner our family went to before my parents split & then divorced.
There was also an utterly based chinese restaurant further down, had those lions out the front, the owners let us kids go in the back and look, they did chinese new year celebrations with a huge dragon team and drummers. They sold the building to the government who built a fucking library. There was a sizzlers as well across the road, really huge one, but it died with all the other ones.

For me, it was Furr's. This was probably my favorite place in the world when I was around 4-10.. Literally, if I had a choice between getting a toy from the toy store in the mall, or going to Furr's, i'd always choose Furr's. I'm not even sure why I liked it so much.. maybe because it was my first experience with being able to choose from such a large variety of foods. It was also a comfy as fuck arrangement they had going on. I liked how you'd stand in line while watching everyone else getting their food, then you'd get your tray and move down the line while people would serve you. I'd always skip all the salad stuff at the beginning. My typical meal was usually green beans, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, fried chicken, mac and cheese, fried okra, and ALWAYS that tapioca with the cherry on top. Come to think of it, I guess it was kind of a southern food type of place. And I remember back when I was really young, there was a lady who would play the piano.. not sure if that was a local thing or if every one had this.. but shit, I miss the damn place. Now, my Furr's has turned in to a Walgreens. The other one is a vacant building as far as i know, but i haven't been to my hometown in around a year. But I have a specific memory of riding to Furr's with my parents and brother, us playing with our toys in the backseat, and telling him we were driving to heaven... kek, just a random foggy memory. Remember when Pizza Hut was decorated with pictures of hardscrabble Italian peasants that look like this (or the Led Zeppelin cover)? Those red plastic glasses for the soda (you can buy them online from restaurant suppliers)?

I remember a fucking cigarette machine in the entryway - a fast kid could have got a pack of smokes before anyone at the counter behind the door noticed. They used to have a cocktail table Pac Man machine as well, as my brother told me, but that was a few years before my time.

This is exactly my memory.
Literally everything had a greasy and sticky coating all over it. Especially the vinyl seats.
The dark colors, low ceilings, strange lighting, and tight booths gave me a sense of claustrophobia.
Comforting and disconcerting at the same time.
Place definitely had some character, the memories are burned in forever.

I worked weekends at a suburban pizza hut in the early 80's and we didn't even do delivery. Friday and Saturday nights it was packed continually from 6PM-10PM. Also, while we're talking Northern Colorado, I miss Woody's Pizza. There were two, if I remember correctly, one in Fort Collins and one in Loveland. Both had cigarette machines and Tekken cabinets, and one of them had Virtua Fighter as well. The interiors were all wood paneling, all tables had booths, and the pizza was amazing. My dad used to take my brother and I at least once a month. One of my most vivid memories of the place in Fort Collins was opening a pack of Pokemon cards and getting a Charizard holo and almost having a heart attack I was so excited.

As far as I remember, the owners retired and sold both locations. The Fort Collins one was the old location of Beaujo's before they moved to the corner of Mountain and College, and the Loveland one was turned into a Nick & Willy's.

A president of a company I used to work for would send me notes written in cursive, it looked like some childish scribble so I'd have to take them to his secretary for a translation. That was a publishing company and he should have known to write in childish scribble, and yes I did take cursive in grade school so knew how to write it but reading someone elses is a waste of time. Not so in the early-mid 90's (peak Chi-Chi's time), in the Chi-Chi's main regions like the midwest and eastern parts of the country, a Mexican was a damn rare sight, was probably legal and spoke English.

So yeah, at the time "Mexican" was unique food fare for American's

Now we have entire chunks of our cities turning into little-Honduras or some shit and people have to put up with Spanish-speaking illegals that "Mexican" food is just 'blah' now to most people. Hell, only reason people eat at the independent "Mexican" restaurants is because of cheap beer and watered down margaritas
