Here's the thing about it all: macro lagers are easily influenced by the aluminum and typically taste better out of a bottle. The reason beer out clear- or green-bottled beer (Yuengling, Heineken, Dos Equis, Stella Artois, Corona, Newcastle's Brown) all taste kinda weird and skunky is because of the way the bottle absorbs light, which will affect the taste of the beer tremendously.

Most micro beers, on the other hand, taste better out of a can because for one, it's fresher, and the other, the aluminum doesn't affect the taste because most micro breweries line the insides of their cans with a certain kind of coating.

Now, if Yuengling either decided to go to brown bottles or else line their cans with that coating, the beer would be phenomenal.

Look, if you don't like beer there's nothing wrong with that. I don't hate people who hate beer, but the people I do hate are those who think beer drinkers are just pretending.
Take pic related, for example. I can't tell whether it's satire, if the author thinks we're pretending or he's making fun of people who do. Either way it really grinds my gears.

I remember seeing a post on tumblr claiming that beer was a social construct, this was years ago but iirc it was well received

theres lots of dumb people who dismiss anything that doesn't allign with their personal experience, I guess they like to think of themselves as omniscient and ignore every truth that isn't convenient to that end

>> No.11868005

Beer IS a social construct. It's a social construction to arbitrarily call a combination of hops, malt, water and yeast 'beer' when combined in a certain way.

Just because Tumblr uses some terminology doesn't immediately make it retarded. The way we interpret the world in a social setting is very much a social construct, but that doesn't mean that social constucts aren't valid, useful or meaningful.

beverages exist, and then society labels the drink however it wants to
it is a drink first and foremost, but you can call any word a "social construct." What is the point of this concept? Just being able to categorize things as a social construct or not? Sounds like a mental circlejerk of no value to anyone or anything

Is this your first day on 4chan and you don't know how to reply or are you so upset about this that you don't want to give me a (you)?

It's not the word that is the social construct, its a socially accepted concept like beer or beverage. If you were to privately invent a term for something it wouldn't be a social construct because only you know of it.

It's a really basic concept of philosophy/psychology and it is pretty stupid that people use it to try to discredit something because just because something's established by society, doesn't mean it's not valid.

Also, beverages don't just 'exist'. For example, different cultures view certain liquids as beverages that others would not.

That's known as language and it's assigning a vocabulary term to categorize a beverage with common characteristics to distinguish it from other beverages. You might argue language itself is a social construct, but not the term "beer."

if you live in Canada like me, your best bet is to just get tall cans from the liquor store. you can get good beer for between $1.50-2.50 a can, anything around $2 a can is a good deal (for Canada, Americans get 2 fucking 32 oz cans for $3 and I low key want to kill myself every time I buy alcohol at home).

the best beers i've drank for that price range are Czech (kozel), German (radberger), and Japanese (sapporo. Tuborgs are also really good, and so are DABS

I don't either cause I am unable to get a good palate vocabulary going, likely because I have not much experience with actually tasting flavors outside of beer, trying to work on that

rn I only make ticks for myself so I can see how I rank beers
