If ramen is a staple food of Millennials and Zoomers, then how come ramen shops haven't become a thing in the west like it is in Japan?

milenialls and zoomers wouldn't know quality if it bit them in the face. They've been raised on industrial slop thanks to their lazy and/or inept boomer parents so that's what they're not only used to, but happy to eat.

Because ramen is overrated and only orientals genuinely like them. Due to Japan's culturally prestige, weebs and those alike would convince themselves that ramen taste good because after all, how can something made by glorious nippons be bad? It's all just placebos.

Think it had clove, allspice and orange juice (I opted for tangerine because it's better in every way) in the recipe and a bunch of other stuff I don't remember. You mean those restaurants that serve shit like pic related? That's nothing like the Maruchan ramen noodles that people buy all the time at gas stations / convenience stores. It's not like the microwave a pack of Top Ramen and serve it to you in a bowl. They prepare actual dishes. You're just getting confused by them having the same name, sort of like if you thought bags of BBQ potato chips were the same as going to a BBQ restaurant.
Also it was a Gen X thing first, not a Millennial thing. They were everywhere in the US during the 90s, college students ate them instead of real food.

>> No.11787114

There aren't many major fast food chains that don't have drive-throughs. Most people have cars in the US (almost 90% of adults). It's a large country and while there are more public transit options available in more remote areas today it's still convenient to own a car in most places outside of the most heavily congested cities like New York. And I say this as someone who doesn't bother with cars and generally resents how fast food places will close off normal access and do drive-through service only at night. Cars are stupid, but you can't pretend they aren't everywhere.

Is it? Rice, legumes, and pasta are both cheaper and less processed, thus healthier. Potatoes as well, and they have nutritional properties of starchy vegetables.
