Not a fan of rye beer from the half dozen I've tried. I don't like wheats much either, though. I hate non-cereal grain adjuncts too, but at least those beers are cheap and not filling. IMO the more barley, the better, from a wort standpoint.

The other store brought over some pic related and I'm probably gonna try it tonight.
The pink can here is a Stillwater, Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout, and it's pretty fucking good. I've always been skeptical about their retardedly minimalistic designs.

My town has only one place that's really into craft beer, and that's usually just commercial craft beer they can afford by transportation's cost, even their real off the wall shit. It's nice and all, but the people there are pretty snotty, and they don't invest in this crazy small name shit you find in the dark depths of the states.

Homebrewing. Do I need to wait for my batch to stop bubbling completely before I bottle it? I brewed it 2 weeks ago, and fermentation got stuck after a couple days. OG was 1.046, took a reading last weekend when it was stuck at 1.020. I unstuck it (swirled it around a bit) and it's been slowly bubbling all week, and now it bubbles once every few minutes.

FG is supposed to be 1.010-1.015. Since it was already down to 1.020 last weekend before I unstuck it, shouldn't it be down to 1.015 by now? I haven't taken a grav reading yet because I want to limit how many times I open it up, but if I take a grav reading and it's less than 1.015 is it good to bottle even if it still occasionally bubbles? I'm trying to get it in the bottles so it'll be ready by the Super Bowl in 3 weeks.

You definitely want it to stop bubbling before bottling.

Fermentation isn't as simple as converting sugar to ethanol and C02; tons of other compounds are generated throughout the process. If you pull beer off of the yeast before fermentation is finished you'll get (among other things) a prevalence of acetaldehyde, which tastes like unripened green apples. Also, if you're bottle-conditioning, you run a serious risk of over-carbonating or even bursting bottles.

tl;dr: Give it a couple of days to ferment out. If the bubbling slows to a few times a day you should be good. Better to have a beer a touch drier than you intended than an over-bubbly apple bomb.

I agree. Though for those of us who like to drink less but lack self control it's nice to be able to drop $5 and get just the right amount of beer. Though I'm so tired of paying $12 for 22oz of fancy beer when I just want 8oz of at most.

>>11759690
I'll have to try it. I've mostly given up trying new IPAs but every once in a while I'll give one a shot.

The Maple Scotch TITW is easily the best one. Avoid the barrel aged Otra Vez. Probably the only outright terrible beer I've had from SN.

Yeah, finding a malt forward ipa (northwest ipa) over a citrusty one would probably be what you're looking for. Maybe trying a pale ale would be worthwhile also. I find that learning about the beer from the brewery; hops, how it got its name, the holistic aspects is enough to make you enjoy a beer, even if you don't like how it tastes. But that also takes a knowledgeable bartender.

OM Ice and Beast Light were pretty tasteless, the latter was more pleasant, tasting mostly like saltine crackers.

Genesee Cream is nothing fancy but a very solid cheap beer with a fantastic mouthfeel.

Four O tastes like they poured a pound of HFCS in each can to reach the 10 percent ABV. Really gross but no alcohol burn.
