It's official, /ck/, I'm addicted to eating raw eggs. It started a couple of weeks ago when I first tried it in a desperate attempt to assuage a particularly bad hangover. I expected it to be terrible, but it was completely devoid of flavor, and oddly enjoyable. Slimy, yet satisfying. Since then I've eaten upwards of 6 raw eggs a day, each taken as a shot with a dash of hot sauce, salt & pepper. Have you tried this recently? What is your relationship with raw eggs as food?

Aren't raw eggs mostly worthless because the protein isn't absorbed by your body unless the white is cooked?

I do a homemade quick eggnog mixing cream, milk and raw egg, plus spices. It's great. I haven't tried raw eggs alone but I guess it's nice.

I like softboiled eggs and omelets that are still wet in the center. However, raw egg whites are just gross and have the texture of snot or semen.

Has nobody here heard of pasteurized eggs? I knew it's uncommon in America but jesus

>The true ileal digestibility of cooked and raw egg protein amounted to 90.9 +/- 0.8 and 51.3 +/- 9.8%
So it's not totally worthless but half the protein in an egg is just being lost if you don't cook it while you get 90% from a cooked egg

I have had raw eggs when I was expirementing with long fasts. From what I read, it is best to dry fast for a certain amount of time to get the pH of your stomach to the right level that would kill off any bacteria that might make you sick. I don't know the minimum of how long you need to dry fast for that to be effective, but I always did about 16 hours dry-fasted before having six raw eggs. Might simply be the effect of being fasted, but they were pretty tasty.

How would you say they effected your hangover? Hope I am never in that situation again, but I may try it sometime.

ITT: hurr durr salmonella
Literally a 1 in 10,000 chance of getting an egg with salmonella in it in the US. The CDC is just retarded and tells the public to handle raw eggs like nuclear waste because boomers freaked the fuck out when salmonella first figured out how to get into the chickens repoductive system in the 70s.

for what I can remember it's only bad on babies/kids and elderly people, normal healthy adults might only get a slight indigestion or something like that. Anyways I've never had anything like that and I'm eating at least 2 raw eggs per day since a couple months ago. In fact I think they digest even better than coocked eggs.

It's dangerous to children, pregnant women, and people with comprised immune systems. It's usually a non issue for an otherwise healthy adult, you'll just be out of commision for a few days while you shit your guts out.

how many eggs do you think are consumed per day you fucking absolute retard? That's an insanely high number for risk of infection. Every 10,000 eggs one has salmonella.

>> No.11637511

>>11633307
Salmonella hasn't been a problem in decades because we pasteurize eggs. Unless you live in a third world country without refrigeration or basic sanitation you can eat raw pasteurized eggs. You can even eat raw unpasteurized eggs if they are from a local source you trust.

>> No.11637603

I tried it once because I heard someone say that texture-wise it feels the same as swallowing a load of semen and I've always wanted to try swallowing my own semen but I'm too pussy and I'm not gay, even though it would be, but I just wanted to see what it's like so I swallowed an egg instead and didn't like it. Hope this helps.

yeah, one in ten thousand definitely is a high risk for disease. "acceptable" risk from anything regulated is typically one in one million, anything less than that has to either be explained or is "risky"
