Objectively, this is the most meme water bottle you can buy right now, but is it actually worth the money? Don't the eventually stain / pick up odors / taste metallic?

It's a nice bottle, bit heavy for my taste and for that reason I don't bring it to the gym. I use it these days to keep my oolong tea warm.

I currently use the *real* meme bottle the $60 "bkr" which is the current fad in yoga studios/instagram

Really best to get a nalgene though that you can abuse or better yet a surplus canteen that you can throw in your bag.

It's actually extremely worth it if you put a bunch of ice cubes in it at the start of your day. Then whenever you can refill your water bottle the ice will make sure anything you drink is cold as fuck.
Swell is really good for this because of the insulation which means the ice doesn't fucking melt throughout the day but also there's no perspiration on the outside of the water bottle. If you put ice in a contigo people are going to think the thing is fucking leaking.

Nalgene is, objectively, the most autistic water bottle money can buy. First off, they're big as fuck, and normal people will think there's something wrong with you for needing to carry that much beverage at one time. They're also impractical, heavy, and most cup holders (both car and backpack) can not accommodate them. That means you'll need to keep them in the main compartment of your bag, where the condensation will assure all your possessions end up sopping wet. Plus, the wide mouth means if they get knocked over, you've just spilled an enormous amount of liquid all over everything - yes, I know they have a narrow-mouth version, but that shit is hard to both get things into and drink from. Finally, they are not useful for physical activity, if you're moving AT ALL when you try to drink you'll be treated to liquid running down your chin and a great big stain on your shirt.

The ONLY environment I accept them in is camping, or some other rigorous outdoor activity/work place where you will be away from a convenient water source for an extended period of time and the durability may actually be put to the test. Otherwise, you look like a sweaty tryhard neckbeard who's either oblivious to what others think of them, or trying desperately to portray a rugged, outdoorsman image and failing hard at it

Avoid.

>>11620686
I use a contigo too, both insulated and non. They work OK but seem to break easily and I'm increasingly concerned about drinking from plastic, even if it's BPA-free.

I've had a swell water bottle for 2.5 years now and haven't had a single issue. I had smell issues for a bit but just cleaned it out. I mostly put tea, water and sometimes juice in it. what is wrong with an empty coke bottle?

i also remember these metallic bottles from way back. Back then the cap was some heavy duty shit that you screwed in to the bottle, the cap also had a big whole right through it so you could use a carabiner to clip it on to anything. you could also stick something through and leverage someone's cap so god damn hard on it was impossible to get off.

these bottles always were meme'y and impractical. an empty soda bottle is and was superior in every way
