I am sick of this "the french are the best chefs" meme.
French food is famously frogs, snails and baguette.
That is, two things that are picked from my garden, with snails literally tasting the same as scallops.
And baguettes being the worst design for bread, i.e. a maximised crust to bread ratio, so they tatse and feel lile shit.

Traditional British food is shit. We made up for it by inviting people from countries with good food over here and stealing their recipes. Now restaurants in Britain are actually good. Even in small towns there are normally multiple Indian, Bangladeshi, Turkish, Thai and Chinese places that aren't chains. There are even enough Italians in some parts of the country now that you can actually get good pizza and pasta.

The most disappointing food I've had has been in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. No creativity allowed.
