Makes water bitter and without it soda is even more syrupy and disgusting. Also it makes you burp which is nice if your stomach hurts.

We might enjoy carbonated beverages because of evolution and beer-making. Flat, stagnant water might not be safe to drink but bubbly beer would be full of good yeasts/bacteria that could outcompete bacteria that would make us sick.

I tried looking for anything to back it up but the only thing I could find was someone saying we can detect carbonation to know to avoid something that's rotting, but that doesn't make sense since we enjoy carbonation.

This is the kind of thing you hear and at very first thought you say, "yeah makes sense" but when you actually think about it it doesn't and sounds pretty fucking shifty. Which it is, because it's actually not true.

If you add malt to water containing a population of bad bacteria along with yeast the bad bacteria will out compete the yeast. Bad bacteria produce carbonation too, so carbonation is no indication of safety.

I'd argue that mouth-feel is probably why we like it.

I can't drink flat water in the morning, it causes me nausea for 5/6 hours.
If drink carbonated water I'm good don't know why

>> No.11493454

Since I've been sober, I started drinking diet soda just for the carbonation. Flavor doesn't matter, just the feeling in my throat like when I'd get home from work and chug a disgusting cheap lager. Diet Dr. Pepper is preferred, it's very strongly carbonated.

How is this even a question? It's easily one of the greatest beverage inventions of all time. It's 80-90% of what makes soda so enjoyable. And it literally cures small bowel obstructions caused by the trash "food" known as vegetables ("b-but muh fiber!"):

If you can't instantly and intuitively understand how good carbonated drinks are then you're a terrible person, or at the least, a severely damaged person.

I drink club soda with lemon. Lemon for the flavor, soda water for the "bite". Tastes good, feels good.

There, I explained my side of this. How about you explain the problem you obviously have with carbonation.
