in my experience, they will come back if you start taking caffeine again for more than 2 days consecutively and stop. if you stick to once or twice a week, it won't come back. I would recommend mostly sticking to non-caffeinated drinks once you have successfully quit, though it should be fine to have occasionally.

5 cans of Monster is 800mg of caffeine. The recommended daily limit is 400mg, so you were having twice that amount. I did the same thing when I was drinking a bunch of cups of strong coffee every day, but the headache went away after a couple days and pretty soon after that my energy levels returned to normal. You should try to keep your caffeine intake a lot lower or not have it every day. Once you have that much every day you stop really feeling the effects of it anyway and only consume it to stave off withdrawals and not feel tired.
