And then they put fucking "tomato sauce" on just about everything. The meat pies are the shit though, America needs more places that serve those.

Funny you mention it, I spent my morning doing a shift on a Bunnings barbeque to raise funds for $LOCAL_COMMUNITY_GROUP I am involved with. It was great fun, being part of an institution.

If you go to Bunnings that's standard but if you're going to a BBQ at someone's place you'd normally get a bit more than just sausages. They're definitely a staple because you can't go wrong with Aussie beef but usually there's lamb chops, pork chops, chevapchas (or however you spell it) if there's any Croats or Serbs in the family too. Sides are normally just salad, coleslaw and potato salad though so don't go expecting a big supporting cast.

I've lived in Australia and the UK and the US, trust me when I tell you that when one person says ketchup and another says tomato sauce they are talking about the exact same condiment. Nobody cares if there's some kind of tiny "oh but one has salt added but the other uses kosher salt" garbage, they're the same thing.

I dont think you understand. BBQ in australia is not really about the food. It's just the weather is always primo except like a week in peak summer when it's too hot,so every weekend you or one of your friends will have a bbq just for the company, but no one wants to be doing muh 12 hour smoked memes every week.
