Man, venison is really good. Shoot one yourself or find a way to get your hands on the back straps. Grill them slowly with some salt and herbs. God damn. That shit is fantastic.

Re: other beasts, I've had a bunch. I live in northern Minnesota and frequently get into caunckistan. (Now that pot is legal, itll be more frequently. ) I've had elk, caribou, moose, bear, rabbit, squirrel, snakes, bison, and who knows what else. It's all delicious. Grilled medium, roasted with herbs, in stews, whatever.

Bear is like gamey beef. I had a roast, similar to a sirloin. Was ver lean, but loaded with flavor. Top few in terms of beast feast items. Really good.

Rabbit and squirrel are basically indiscernable. They both taste like (work with me here,) chicken breast in terms of leanness, but thigh in flavor. Not a lot of taste, but easily flavored with herbs and fruit. Squirrel with a berry compote is very good.

Snake (allegedly rattler) tastes like frog legs. Think chicken wing, but leaner.

The key point for me is that all meats taste like beef or chicken (reddish or whiteish,) but with small twists. Try them all. Especially elk and caribou. Back straps if you can get them. They will be well worth your efforts.

Shitty pinterest pic is very related. They taste better than they look and they look really fucking good.

Most people don't, even I was a lactovegetarian from birth (because my family is of priests, so no meat, no eggs even). I started eating meat when I entered Univ and saw that most of my classmates ate meat. I love chicken and fried fishes now but I still have to eat meatballs in secret because if my family catches me, I'll most probably be punished. If I am caught eating cow beef specifically, I'll be disowned since cows are holy animals.
That said I often visit webm threads here and salivate over all the delicious meat foods that I can never eat.

delet this

This is why responsible farming, education, and animal welfare is important. We need to eat more widely, and more of an individual animal's parts, not just the choicest cuts.

I watch a doco where Innuit would hum-sing to seals they had hunted. Firstly, only the best hunter delivered the first and killing blow, then the song helped calm the animals as they bled to death, they'd hug it and pat it like other seals. The lyrics where an apology for killing the seal but that they [the hunters] needed to feed their families, so they would remember it's spirit and its spirit would give them energy and life so they could worship whatever creator god made the seal and protect it's brothers and sisters.

Also OP, I'm glad to try anything. Y'all need to try kangaroo and wallaby though, it's delicious.

giant galapagos tortoises were widely regarded as the most delicious meat the world by sailors in the 17th century. I wish I could try it one day

"They said the meat of the giant tortoise was 'succulent meat and the oil from their bodies as pure as butter, but best of all, the giants could hibernate in a ship's damp for a year or more." The tortoises also conveniently held water in their neck that could be used as drinking water. These buccaneers took giant tortoises not only because of their meat and oil but because of their incredible adaption that allows this animals to survive one year without food or water. Once buccaneers, whalers and fur sealers discovered that they could have fresh meat for their long voyages by storing live giant tortoises in the holds of their ships, massive exploitation of the species began. Tortoises were also exploited for their oil, which was used to light the lamps of Quito. Two centuries of exploitation resulted in the loss of between 100,000 and 200,000 tortoises." - wikipedia

every time sailors attempted to bring the tortoises back to europe they never made the journey, because the crew would eat every last one
