I havent gone to dinner with another person since March of last year. I moved for a new job, dont know anybody, so I dont have a choice. At first i felt uncomfortable going out alone and would ONLY sit at the bar, but now I enjoy going out alone and look back to how annoying it is to eat in a fucking group. Yes, I did it yesterday, and I had afternoon tea on my own today, because my girlfriend is away for a while. It is okay to not be with people and to be comfortable in your own skin and enjoy things.

Now going out for cocktails or something on your own, that's not so common. I've done it a couple times but the last time I started to get a few guys coming up offering to buy me drinks and stuff, which doesn't really make me feel comfortable if you're a random I don't know. Generally it's a social thing but on occasion sure, why not, just be vigilant about your own safety, have an escape plan if anyone gets weird, and never get trashed.

Nice chill coffee shop vibes is more my style, and I don't mind hanging out in one for a bit if I have something to work on (even if I can't actually have coffee, tea is more my jam).

In my experience they do. If you have bad clothes or hair, are fat or otherwise look like a loser, or you have self-conscious body language, people will pick up on it and treat you badly. I noticed this especially. The waiter makes the effort to get everyone their food at the same time so no one is left awkwardly not eating but there a clear disparity in how long it takes for meal prep for each of the dishes. This is manifested by my fucking fries being cold/luke warm.
The last time I went to a sushi bar alone, my entre came out before my appetizer.

The one and only time I ever ate at a restaurant on my own was when I had to travel to do clinicals out of town for school. We had to get our own hotels on our own money, but I was still going with my own clinical group so when we broke for lunch everyone was talking about getting together for dinner. So, when it was time to leave the hospital that day, I told them to text me where they were going for food - most of us were in our own separate hotels but I was at a shitty Holiday Inn that didn't have room service and I wanted in.
Waited till 8 p.m. and no text.
I finally broke and went to the Cracker Barrel directly next door to the hotel and ate by myself. I was seated directly in the middle of everyone and felt extremely awkward and nervous the entire time.
My clinical group never did text me.

Eating at a restaurant is just about gaining nutrition. A real alpha wouldn't care at all whether he eats alone or not, and he will just smile at everyone and order some food with confidence after a day of work, because this is by no means a big deal for a person with real importance in his life.

Life hack: if you dine alone you don't have to tip. The logic is that you aren't really making them work any harder because you're just one person. This is also why restaurants charge gratuity automatically for large parties, because it's so much work. So if you're a party of one (now that's my kind of party) you don't have to tip. Try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised that it works.

I do it all the fucking time. Usually fancish but hipster type restaurants. I avoid all fast food as anything but a desperate measure and I'm not too fond of traditional fine dining.

When I'm at work, I often go alone. Sometimes lunch with coworkers is nice, but on hectic days I just need the alone time to relax.

I also travel a lot for work. I realistically don't have any option but to eat alone.

Even at home. There's an absolute ton of restaurants around me, and with me being downtown and the majority of my friends in the county, it's hard to go with someone on worknights. Then on weekends I bring people to these favorite spots that already know me.

Depends on the policy, upscale places usually have no singles policies to make everyone comfortable (no one likes a loser sitting in the middle of everyone else), so your options are typically fast food, places with counters, and places with isolated areas for singles (usually out of sight for the other diners). Call them and ask for their policy but make sure you don't use your main phone number so you don't get blacklisted.
