I really really liked this shit. Unfortunately I discovered that I'm allergic to prickly pear, after eating this. Fucking sucks, first time I've ever had an allergic reaction to something.

I've tried all the other Marie Sharp hotsauces, they're pretty good. But that green shit is great, just can't eat it or I break out in hives all over my face and my lips swell up.

Yeah. I switched to Belizean Heat. Still very good, but not as good as the green stuff. They also make an orange pulp one, Orange Habanero. It tastes kinda funky.

Melinda's also makes pretty good sauce too.

Ive had:

tapatio
cholula (variety of kinds)
tabasco (variety of kinds)
secret aardvark
pain is good habanero
yellowbird habanero
franks redhot (buffalo and hot sauce)
sriracha (not hotsauce btw)
el yucateco (many kinds)
"bocas" hot sauce (not as good as the stuff they had in Bocas Del Toro Panama, which is on par with Lotties and Aunt May, that I linked)
Melindas

From what I read Marie Sharp was a simple farmer from Belize, her farm was called Melinda Estates. Her sister said some doctor was looking for peppers, so she planted a shit ton of habaneros, but the guy couldn't sell those. So she took all of these peppers back home and was pretty much like "what the fuck am I going to do with all of these fucking peppers?" Even though her and her husband had a farm, she had a full time job. So she just started fucking around with the peppers in her kitchen and making her own sauces using all sorts of different shit. Apparently drums upon drums of mashed peppers mixed with all sorts of ingredients. She was just giving it away to friends and family. Well apparently one of her friends really liked the one that she made with carrots and suggested that she market it.

Well, she began selling her sauces, but some weird shit happened and her American distributor trademarked the name Melinda's. She was unwise to international trade law and fucked her. So they tried to cut her out because they thought they had her full recipe and began getting pepper mash from Costa Rica instead of her, but theirs is a lower quality.

So instead of taking it to court (she couldn't afford it), she created a new company with her own name, Marie Sharp's. She is completely blown away at the popularity of her hot sauce.

So pretty much Melinda's is a stolen corporate ripoff of Marie Sharp's, and that's why they taste similar. She's just a kind old lady from Belize trying to sell some hot sauce. And it's fucking damn good.

No it's more like hot sauce and sweet and sour sauce. It's good but not really like steak sauce at all. They also make pic related which is pretty good, it's my favorite of the Louisiana style to put on fried chicken.
