New drinker here, what's your favorite/recommend beer/hard cider/ale. i haven't had many different types of beer and i'm wondering what anyone thinks of Sam Adams.

>New drinker here

Quit now while you can, before you require being buzzed or more just to function normally.

Thinking like that is probably how you ended up a loser in the first place.

hah, imagine having to drink 20 beers a day just to avoid sweating. no buzz whatsoever.

ive had their cherry wheat (good), rebel ipa (6/10. perfectly boring generic IPA), original (7/10) octoberfest (8/10)

i would trust anything they brew. none of it will blow you away but its definitely not going to be a misfire.

Unless you live in a beer wasteland like fucking Rhode Island, Sam Adams is pretty shit. Sierra Nevada is a solid entry level brewery with wide distribution, but unless you live in the South or deep flyover, you'd be best to just look up your highest rated local breweries and try things.

To live in Nebraska and not get addicted to a drug at some point in life is like living your entire life in the ocean without being eaten by a shark. Good luck.

Expensive shit. You can actually afford expensive beer, unlike expensive spirits. Most expensive beers are actually worth it.

Serious answer here
Local is usually best. For wide availability, sam Adam's, bells, ballast point, stone, new belgium, left hand. Most imports from Germany and belgium are safe bets too

Oh sierra nevada and lagunitas too

Sam Adams and New Belgium are pretty bad compared to the others you listed, and Stone is leagues better than both Bells and Left Hand. Ballast Point has a few good things, but a ton of garbage, and it's all way over hyped and over priced.

My favorite is Old Rasputin by North Coast brewery, tasty and fairly inexpensive for what it is. Sam Adams is pretty gross and fairly sweet for my tastes.

Best beer imho is Pauwel Kwak or La Trappe, and the best cider I've had so far was Stella Artois Cidre

Just suggesting some easy to grab entry level stuff m8. Ballast point is overrated and overpriced, but it's still widely available and a good intro to beer. Sam Adam's is criminally underrated imo. They're in a weird limbo where they're considered too fancy for bud drinkers and too mainstream for craft drinkers. They had an imperial series years ago that didnt sell for shit and I got cases of their imp stout for a dollar a piece. Good stuff too. I'll always try them out. Their rebel ipa isnt nearly as bad as people say it is either

Nebraska bro here. I recommend checking out Nebraska Brewing Co.'s wheat beer EOS. I can find six pack cans of it at Super Saver and other grocery stores around Lincoln. It's based in La Vista I think. We do have some pretty good local breweries to try. Zipline is a little overrated I think, but it's not hard to get into. You can go to a supermarket like hyvee and their spirits department has a "make your own 6 pack" thing. Basically just buy 6 different beers and see what you like. Rinse and repeat

sierra nevada is my favorite brewery thats widely available. their pale ale is really good.
for a new drinker it might be a bit much though, sam adams boston lager would probably be a fine place to start

You underestimate the power of alcohol.
You aren't above it. You'll be dragged below by the undertow of your own swill just like all the ones who came before you.
