Apparently you Americans have never heard of sausage rolls. Is this true?

Pic related. A much loved British snack. Eaten hot or cold but they're way better hot.

The name "sausage roll" is atypical here in the US. But we do have similar things, we just call them by different names: "pig-in-a-blanket", sausage kolaches, etc.

They're well known, just not that common. Aside from the corn dog/pig in a blanket examples provided already, we're much more likely to go for a sausage sandwich instead. Sausage on a bagel, biscuit, or english muffin is a staple at most places that service breakfast (with egg/cheese optional). To cap it all off, savory pastries are HEAVILY outnumbered by their sweetened counterparts in the states.

Dumb, FAT, stinky Americans haven't heard of anything that isn't a big greasy double Big Mac or a hot dog with a single line of ketchup. It's both paradoxical and amusing to me how uneducated Amerisharts manage to be both inbred and mongrelized. Ironically, the Amerigoblin will sit there, pants shat, and tell you about his Italian heritage or how he is 1/64 Cherokee Indian. His sweaty brow will furrow as his monkey like American brain legitimizes his own lies and, despite the disgusting brown hunchbacked mix of west African and Jewish genes reflecting back at him, will convince himself he is in fact, white.

in america you aren't going to find it with a shortcrust or puff pastry shell

you can get a corndog which is deep fried in a cornmeal batter

you can get a pig in a blanket which is usually made with canned croissant dough (common quick home item)

you can what's (technically incorrectly) called a kolache in regions with czech populations (mainly central texas) which is made with an enriched dough

and 9/10 it will be a hotdog rather than a sausage
