Martha Stewarts "grilled cheese bar" check mate grilled cheese purists just cause you add something to it doesnt make it not a grilled cheese.

Why didn't you finish your damn grilled cheese, you spoiled brat?

I literally cooked her cream of tomato soup and made a grilled cheese to go with it using a young cheddar and Gouda. I made a few changes to her tomato soup by roasting tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and banana peppers then blending into a paste, adding chicken stock to reconstitute, thyme and a bay leaf, simmering for a bit then adding cream. Come to think of it, my recipe isn't anything like hers.

How come her online recipes are always around 3/5 stars, do mommy bloggers hate her for some reason? surely some of her recipes are better than pioneer woman trash

No her recipes are actually awful. Here's an obvious example:

They're not always obvious. I once tried a basic sugar glaze recipe of hers specifically for putting on cookies, and after following it to the letter I was left with a liquid mess that would never work for anything.

>you didn't use confectioner's sugar

in a world where women are increasingly relied on to work, raise kids, and housekeep all at once, they feel a deep insecurity when confronted with the Superhousewife that is Martha. She spends a lot of time fucking around with bullshit that requires money and time and creativity and good taste, none of which the modern woman possesses all at the same time. My mother has a plaque that reads "Martha Stewart doesn't live here" in her kitchen. You get the idea. My mom has a deep insecurity about my best friend's mom who stayed at home and was basically Martha lite. I've never had a bad recipe from her, the roasties are jealous.
>I know it's Martha but It wasn't worth the hype!

I looked up comparable recipes for the ones I listed, no major differences to others. She's been around forever, a lot of her old recipes are julia child and pepin era cuisine (not that she compares at all to them, just heavily influenced by classic french). simple, common, fool proof recipes get low ratings for no apparent reason. Yet trash made with prepackaged garbage on blogs and allrecipes are 5 stars, makes no sense. She definitely can cook, not like chef tier but an expert among housewives. I don't really give a shit about her at all, just thought it was strange that I see her low ratings every time I look up a recipe.

I always do 1:1 water rice approximately
The trick is to cook the rice slowly and to let the steam do the work.
More than 1:1 overhydrates the rice and makes it mushy rather than a bit bouncy like the rice you are served ata restaurant.

>> No.11209439

>>11209407
I think this may be part of the reason. shitty home cooks that use prepackaged shit "dump", "one-pan", etc recipes get intimidated by any sort of technique and martha's smugness just makes it worse. she comes off as a cunt on TV and probably is irl, not to mention being filthy rich. A good combo to trigger housewives that never made it

>> No.11209446

>>11209427
I did also add that I soak my rice for at least an hour in the water before cooking it. Helps the grains absorb the water and steam more efficiently.
