They're the same thing, doofus

Prime rib eye is just a long joint with the bones and cap still on.

I wouldn't refuse a slice of prime rib, but given the choice I'd prefer a grilled ribeye steak. I like the taste of the sear.

I actually had to think about this one, but I think I'd take a solid just under mid-rare prime rib with horseradish and au jus over a ribeye of the same quality pretty much every day of the week.

ribeye is just a prime rib sliced into steaks
the prime in prime rib does not refer to the quality of the meat
it means it comes from the rib primal, ribs 6-13
or ribs 5-13 depending on parts of the world
a cow is cut into 4 primals
chuck, rib, loin, and round
the rib is then cut into subprimals, rib, shortplate, navel, and skirts
the rib then needs to have the lifter meat and feather and chine bones removed
then your left with the prime ribs
you can still keep breaking it down into beef back ribs and boneless ribeyes or leave the bones in or bone in ribeyes
