i agree with you that i dont understand how or why people by canned vegetables, however fresh produce is in fact less healthy than frozen, provided that it has been flash frozen immediately after harvest. if it is done this way then then the nutritional value does not degrade over time like so called "fresh" produce. now i can understand the appeal of having fresh produce for stuff like salads but if you are going to cook the vegetables you will always get more nutritional value out of frozen ones

That was the only kind of mushroom I ever had until I left home at 16. My dad used to make Chef Boyardee pizza from a box and use those things on it. Strangely, they matched perfectly.

Take some mediocre mushrooms, boil them and put them in a can. Why would they taste good?

Put them in a red sauce and simmer the shit out of them. About the only way they work.

Canned mushrooms are notorious for having higher levels of maggots than any other canned veg. If you want mushrooms, why not just buy some fresh ones, they're cheap as hell.

Canned mushrooms are better on pizza because they don't get dry and shrivel up like fresh ones. That's about all they're good for though.

I remember reading somewhere that chefs often use canned mushrooms in recipes that call for stewed mushrooms because they don't spoil, they don't have to be cleaned, and stewed mushrooms all turn out the same consistency anyway.
