When did you realize that the ribeye is vastly superior to the filet mignon?

Depends on my mood.

Filet is so much easier to just cut up and eat.

Ribeye takes more work to cut up and chew

The ribeye is the MAN’s cut of beef.
Filets are for sissyboys

Ribeye is shit.
Sirloin is the true patrician steak.

There is a little steak place I go to in South dakota when I'm there for pheasant hunting season, that does 3x 9oz filets a loaded baked potato, a wedge salad and a 25oz draft beer for $40.

i like both
i usually cook for the whole family and when i do i usually make ny strip and serve it pre cut (come at me), but i like making a rib eye just for myself.. it does take a bit of work to eat
filet is also nice sometimes, depending on my mood, but generally i fell they're a little too lean

my inlaws grilled a bunch of these recently and they were great .. reconsidering the sirloin tbhfam

It never occurred to me to rate the two against one another. It's like "when did you realize soup was better than a salad". They're just different.
>>11114970
Filet is also more versatile, you can slice it and serve raw, you can blast it with bacon and other meme garnishes, you can stuff it inside something else.
>>11114976
Imagine being so insecure about your masculinity that you need to choose your steak to compensate for whatever down there is lacking.
>>11114980
Sirloin is for hamburgers and tartare, I can't really see the appeal for eating it as a steak, but I guess it's all subjective.

I like a fatty steak with a lot of marbling, mainly because of the fat, but no steak can beat a properly juicy burger.

My parents made us eat hotdogs whenever they ate steaks. It wasn't until I was around 20 that I actually started getting steak regularly and quickly found the ribeye to be my favorite. Extra points if it's a correctly done prime rib.

>> No.11115611

I like both. Filet is leaner so you can have it rare as fuck and it's extremely tender that way. Ribeye needs to be medium rare to melt some of the fat.

In my opinion, flank steak tastes the best and has the most beefy flavor. You do need to marinate it for tenderness but that’s part of the game.

21, when I bought my first supermarket steaks.
Ribeye has that awesome ridge of fat on the side I can render to turn soft, but the main steaks marbling stays hard white. I love both types of fat
