I'm aware. I wasn't discussing fraud, I was discussing another aspect of how wages are taxed. Wages are actually taxed twice. The deductions an employee sees on their pay stub for things like medicare and social security (etc)? Those are also paid by the employer as well as the employee. The employer also has additional taxes (i.e. state unemployment tax) they pay as well. Those expenses are avoided when an employee is tipped, even when the employee declares 100% of their tips.
