The HotDog.

"Invented" in Germany by just putting a Bratwurst in a Brötchen and mustard on it.
The name "Hot Dog" came from an observation of a Bratwurst seller on the street, who once watched a customer drop his hot Bratwurst when he tried to eat it with his fingers. Right after, the customer's dog ate the still hot Bratwurst from the floor, without an issue. The name "Heißer Hund" or Hot Dog was born.
There's some more fantastic stories about it, so I suggest googling fir some documentaries about it (I'm on mobile atm, sorry).
