No idea why it’s not been posted yet. From what I’ve seen it looked pretty objective and a good place for beginners to start.

I worked as a chefs apprentice for a year to learn how to cook

>use a knife properly
>filet oranges
>cut strawberries into roses
>generally plate dessert in a fancy way (never anything inedible on the plate though)

i quit because it sucked ass, i'm still pretty fucking awful at everything that involves actual food but the one thing i got from all this is that i shouldn't be afraid of failing
so i really just do whatever and if it turns out well i write it down and if it doesnt i write down what i could have done differently

Because I'm the only one on this board that knows how to cook (a few others aren't terrible), and I'm too lazy to make a sticky.

Here's what you do.

Figure out your ten favorite foods. Look up recipes and learn how to cook your favorites.

Then branch out. You learned some skills, apply them to new dishes that sound interesting.

Over time you will learn which things taste good together. These flavor profiles will guide you so you can make your own recipes.
