I've had people do this, not in probably 7 years.

I didn't hate it, it was okay, I didn't dance with them, but I had beer. It was my 21st. I'm glad people at least tried then.

Oh my god this reminds me of something I'm still so angry about
> Have crazy uncle
> Younger brother of my dad, has some mental problems.
> Every time we go out to dinner with him, the waitstaff comes in singing happy birthday to me
> It's not even my birthday
> It never is
> First time it happens, we make nothing of it.
> Second time it happens, we start asking questions
> Crazy uncle reveals he's been lying to the waitstaff about it being my birthday every time we go somewhere, just so that I'd get free cake or flan or whatever.
> mfw

Seriously, why the fuck would you do that to a bunch of minimum wage workers? You exploit their charity and kindness in this way? I've been eating free cake purchased with LIES? What does that make me?

On my 18th mum told the wait staff that I was turning 18. And she brought out a cake mum made and there was a LONG table next to us with like maybe 20, 40+ year olds.
Everyone started singing happy birthday in the restaurant. It was so embarrassing but it was nice everyone just stopped eating to sing

You are like the no fun sour puss in a cheesy comedy movie. Take it from someone who worked in American restaurants. Your food is cooked by violently insane and kind psychopaths and 8/10 servers are drug abusers or alcoholics. The other 2 are managers who literally have no souls and attempt to rape everything both literally and figuratively.

Not even comparable. Not an excuse. It is kind of sweet how caring you are. "Scamming" some free desert and a song is the least of our worries and even if it was we would crave it. Restaurants are where you learn how to hate and it becomes addicting. It turns me on just thinking about how I wished those families would suffer horrible accidents so the children would be orphans. Hitler was right but chose the wrong people. Restaurant workers are the real vermin that need to be gassed. Every day I do not receive proper justice I will commit atrocities.

>He has his head in his hands
>Realise what he's doing as he takes candles out of his pocket and hands them to one of the waiters
>Just try to eat as fast as possible
>Cousin gets up and disappears for a few moments
>At the end of the meal, one of the really cute waitresses comes out with a slice of cake and candle to wish me a happy birthday
>Dad is just about losing it
>Gets up to go speak to their manager
>Cousin stops him
>They go outside and argue
>Dad shoves him and sticks his finger in his face, yelling something
>Collect the cake and go

Then, I still am expected to accept the people that made me who I am today. I'm trying to recover, don't rope me into your bullshit ever again mom. I'm an adult now. I'm self-reliant. I'm sure most of the time you're being ironic here. But even bearing that in mind, it sounds like your hatred is genuine.

So under that assumption, I'd say the problem wasn't the other people. The problem was probably you.

I'm starting to think that most of the people you worked with weren't actually assholes at all. There were maybe one or two jerks, but I doubt they were anywhere near as bad as you say they were.

As to how caring I am, it's hard for me to tell whether you meant that as an insult. You do sound like the kind of person who would regard "It is kind of sweet how caring you are" as an insult. But if the world was full of more caring people, it would be a better world. And I think we should all try to act in the way that we'd want other people to act. Kind of like Kant's categorical imperative, if you will.

The jungle may favor dog-eat-dog morality. But if everyone followed that logic, it would be a horrible, horrible world indeed. So we might as well try to care for one another. Bring some kindness into the world. Strike a match in the dark. That, at least, would make life a little more bearable
